Please don’t park in front of fire hydrants.

You may have seen photos of cars with their windows broken out and a fire hose running through them. Firefighters don’t do that to be jerks. The hose we hook to hydrants doesn’t bend well. When a hose is kinked, it can keep us from getting enough water through it. That endangers lives and property.

There isn’t always another hydrant. There isn’t always another fire engine available to make another hose stretch. There isn’t enough time when a building is on fire to try something else.

Thankfully, this morning’s incident was just a close call.

Great news! Our department has been awarded funding through the TN Volunteer Firefighter Equipment and Training Grant in the amount of $64,500. This grant will help us obtain a new SCBA Filling station, that will make ensure that our Firefighters have efficient air supply when they wear a air pack.

We would like to thank the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s office and our state legislators for their continued support of volunteer fire departments and for investing in the safety of our firefighters and the communities we serve.

Confidence is building for a winter storm this coming weekend. Could be snow, or ice, or a mix, in overall light amounts as of now. Exact track of an incoming low pressure will make the difference. Timing would be Friday night, and into Saturday. Still in the works, so a lot can still change, but it needs to be monitored. Attached are various maps. Expect this to change.
