Classes, exhibits and music are our mission but look for many other special events popping up throughout the year such as children’s events, bus tours, festivals and parties. Exhibits and concerts and most events are offered free and open to the public. The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is proudly supported by the citizens of the Troy City School District through a local tax levy and generous gifts

Start your PorchFest day with Jenna Drees, bringing Pop & Rock to 330 Grant St. at noon, with her performance sponsored by Bakehouse Bread.

Then make your way to the Artist & Maker Village to find Sarah Wrona Design. Sarah creates handmade fused-glass dishes, jewelry and home décor, along with beaded jewelry and bookmarks. Her work spans a variety of artistic media and has also included fused-glass and welded-metal sculpture.

Live music and handmade art are a pretty great way to spend a Sunday countdown!

Country artist Catsteel takes the Roots Stage at Cherry & Franklin at 5:00 pm, with the performance sponsored by Premier Health.

You’ll also find Trades of Hope in the Artist & Maker Village on North Short Street with fair-trade, artisan-made goods from around the world. Their collection includes jewelry, bags, scarves and accessories, home décor, journals, children’s items, paper art and hand-stitched greeting cards. Trades of Hope partners with artisans to create sustainable economic opportunities for women and families facing difficult circumstances.

Get ready for some Blues Rock! The Gage Thomas Band performs at 245 Grant St. at 3:00 pm, with their PorchFest performance sponsored by Palmer Construction.

Over in the Artist & Maker Village, things get colorful with Roll Away the Dye. Rebecca Phiffer creates bright tie-dye for the whole family, including tees, shirts, shorts, onesies, blankets, bandannas, hair accessories, bags and purses, along with upcycled dyed clothing, pet blankets and sewn crafts.

Avalon Park is bringing Rock & Pop to 209 S. Oxford St. at 2:00 pm, with their PorchFest performance sponsored by Grandpa Joe’s.

Also joining us in the Artist & Maker Village is Nitty Gritty Soap Suds LLC. Amy Hawley creates small-batch goat milk soaps using milk from her family’s own dairy goats, combined with oils and butters to create a variety of handcrafted soaps.

Make the Annex Stage one of your PorchFest stops! T. Kao performs Acoustic music at 22 N. Short St. at 1:00 pm, with the performance sponsored by H&R Block.

Just steps away in the Artist & Maker Village, you’ll find Lady-L-Weaving. Lorraine Reibert creates handwoven and knitted textiles including scarves, shawls, mug rugs, bookmarks and more, and also creates work on a floor-sized counterbalance loom using natural fibers.

There will be something to hear—and something handmade to discover—all day long.

CALLIGRAPHY class with Debora Cook, it's time to register. Registration will end on Thursday, August 27. All supplies are included in the fee.

The skill of writing in traditional calligraphy is an ancient and
beautiful art. This class will introduce three different styles,
and supply the various tools and materials used. Creating
handwritten words and communications that have a special
look, is unique in our world of digital communications.

Bluegrass comes to Short Street with The Barnharts, performing at 128 S. Short St. at 4:00 pm, with their performance sponsored by Kettering Health.

While you’re exploring the Artist & Maker Village, look for David Holbrook Creations. His pottery ranges from classic wheel-thrown bowls featuring colored slips and appliqués to imaginative hand-built pieces that use dimension to add plenty of character.

Three weeks to go! Join us Saturday, September 12 for a full day of live music, local artists, food trucks and more throughout Troy’s Southwest Historic District.
