October is fast approaching and it’s that time we do fire safety talks. We have traditionally gone to any and every school that requests our participation and will continue to do so. One that we haven’t done or have ever talked to are our Home Schooled children. This year we are pleased to announce that on October 5th from 10am to 12 noon that our Station doors will be open to all Home Schooled students in and around Montgomery Co that wish to come and look at our equipment and hear us speak about fire safety. We look forward to seeing all of you then.

Kim Creger , wife of NC Fallen Firefighter and Troy Assistant Chief David Creger asked me to post this pic of her and some of the Troy FFs that attended last Saturdays NCFFF ceremony. More Troy members came after this pic was taken but she is grateful for all those that attended. You will always be missed sir.

In honor of Black History Month I thought I would recognize this gentleman right here. James Leake is Troy NC Fire Departments first African American member in its 100 plus years of existence. James works full time with the Troy Public Works Department and usually chauffeurs our first out Engine. Being he and his family lives one block from the fire station he also is our nighttime driver as well. Always quick with the wit,James has been with us going on 15 years and we look forward to at least that many more. Thank you for your service James.
