Last week, I sent notices to jurors that the jury term scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled. Some jurors have not received that notice in the mail as of today. If you have JURY DUTY ON 12/3 (tomorrow), you DO NOT need to appear! All cases have settled.

I have received multiple reports of individuals receiving calls for missing jury duty. The Clerks Office nor the Sheriff’s Office will EVER CALL YOU concerning you missing jury duty. The call starts off with very legitimate info, including the judges name and deputies name (including badge #)—including your information. IT IS A SCAM! Please let all of your family members know not to fall for this! They will ask if you want to settle civilly and avoid arrest, which is when they ask you for money via a “gift card”. It is ALL A SCAM. Please share!

By Administrative Order of Presiding Judge Jeff Kelley, the Circuit Clerks Office is closed this afternoon and on Friday, August 8th. There is flooding throughout the Judicial Complex. SOME cases have been continued by certain judges whose courtrooms and offices were impacted by this flood. If you need to check on a case that is scheduled for next week, please email me at [email protected]. Not all courtrooms were flooded and some judges may still have court, so do not assume your case is continued. We greatly apologize for this inconvenience and hope to be in full operation soon. All employees have laptops and are still processing online filings, checking emails, and processing online payments.

There is currently no water, air conditioning, and active water flow; so for employee safety we are closing this afternoon. We are not sure about tomorrow at this time, but I will update as soon as I meet with the presiding judge. We apologize for the inconvenience.

This weekend the Judicial Complex had extensive flooding. There are currently fans and air scrubbers throughout the building to rectify the situation. For the protection of employees and the public, the Presiding Judge has granted permission to close my office on Monday due to growing concerns. The Circuit Clerks Office will be closed on Monday, but should be open on Tuesday. If there are any emergencies, dispatch will get up with me. I will check my email throughout the day if there is any reason you need to contact me or any question you have. We plan to be operating 8am-5pm throughout the remainder of the week. I just received my first telephone call, to my cell phone, advising me that “Deputy Cox from the Pike Co Sheriffs Office” needed to know why I had failed to appear for jury duty this week. They are calling again and sounded very professional until I advised him of who I am. The call quickly turned to being talked to filthy, to say the least. Do NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM! These people are preying on others and I hope none of you will fall for this scam. The call was from “No Caller ID”. Please advise others and share. Me nor the Sheriff’s Office will ever call you and ask for money for failure to appear at jury duty.
