• HFHMSCO facilitates the ability for families to help themselves by providing no-profit, no-interest mortgage loans.

This morning we’re proud to recognize and Kasi Services for the outstanding work they do preparing our newest Habitat homes for the families who will soon call them home.

As construction wraps up, one final step remains before the keys are handed over. Each home gets a thorough, professional cleaning that transforms a job site into a welcoming home. Thanks to the dedicated team at Kasi Services, our most recent Habitat home was spotless and move-in ready, giving our newest homeowner the opportunity to begin this exciting chapter in a clean, fresh space.

Community partners like Kasi Services make a meaningful difference in every Habitat build. Their generosity, attention to detail, and commitment to serving others help ensure our partner families can focus on celebrating their new beginning instead of worrying about the final preparations.

We are incredibly grateful to Kasi Services for supporting our mission and helping us build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership in Miami and Shelby Counties.

As a small token of our appreciation, our Habitat Activity Center volunteers created a hand-painted plaque featuring the Habitat home icon to recognize the lasting impact our community partners make. Thank you, Kasi Services, for helping us welcome another family home!

This morning, we gathered on a beautiful summer day to celebrate the groundbreaking of another Habitat for Humanity home in Sidney.

Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties staff and Board members were joined by representatives from home sponsor Clopay Corporation, volunteer contractor D&S Contruction, local elected officials, community members, and future homeowner Megan Ackley and her children. Over the coming months, Megan and her family will work alongside volunteers and contractors to help build the home before purchasing it through Habitat's affordable homeownership program with a 0% interest mortgage.

The ceremony began with a blessing from Reverend Eileen Hix for the project, the volunteers, and the family who will one day call the house home. Guests were then welcomed by Habitat Executive Director Scott Barr and Habitat Board Vice Chair Paula Hill.

Clopay President Victor Weldon spoke about the company's commitment to strengthening the communities where its employees live and work through its partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Sidney Mayor Mike Barhorst and Shelby County Commissioner Mack Knupp also shared remarks, emphasizing the lasting impact affordable homeownership has on families, neighborhoods, and the community as a whole. The homesite itself was generously donated by the Shelby County Land Reutilization Corporation, making this project possible.

The ceremony continued with heartfelt remarks from Megan, who introduced each of her children and expressed her sincere gratitude to Clopay Corporation, Habitat for Humanity, the many volunteers, contractors, and community partners whose generosity and dedication are helping make her family's dream of homeownership a reality.

The celebration concluded with the ceremonial first dig. Megan and her children were joined by representatives from Clopay Corporation, the City of Sidney, Shelby County, and Habitat for Humanity as they put the first shovels into the ground, symbolizing the beginning of a journey that will culminate in a safe, affordable home. Together, this remarkable partnership is laying the foundation for more than a house—it is building stability, opportunity, and hope for generations to come.

🏡 Five homes. Two years. Countless lives changed.

On Monday, we'll celebrate another incredible milestone as we break ground on our fifth Habitat home built in just two years! This new home, proudly sponsored by Clopay Corporation, will also be our second home built in Sidney in 2026.

Future homeowner Megan Ackley, a mother of five, has already begun putting in the hard work that makes Habitat unique. Alongside volunteers and contractors, Megan will help build the home her family will one day own before purchasing it with an affordable 0% interest mortgage.

Every Habitat home is built through the power of partnership, generosity, and hope. Thank you to Clopay Corporation, our volunteers, donors, and community members for helping make safe, affordable homeownership possible.

Stay tuned as we follow this exciting journey from groundbreaking to home dedication! 💙💚
