There really are no words big enough for a loss like this, but in our grief it's important to remember that Dolly's legacy will live on in the children across Miami County who open their mailboxes to find books with their name on it.

Dolly did that for us. ❤️‍🩹🦋

We are heartbroken by this loss. 💔The impact Dolly has had on families, little ones, communities, and libraries simply cannot be measured. Her love of books and dedication to early childhood literacy changed countless lives. RIP Queen.

Today, we and Libraries everywhere mourn the loss of one of our greatest patrons and supporters, Dolly Parton.

The Tipp City Library joins millions of people in remembering Dolly Parton, who passed away at the age of 80.

Few people could claim to be as universally loved as Dolly. Her music crossed generations, but so did her kindness, humor, generosity, and unmistakable belief in the power of dreaming big.

For libraries and families, one part of her legacy feels especially meaningful.

In 1995, inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly created the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library with a simple goal: help children fall in love with books. What began in her home county in Tennessee grew into a worldwide literacy program that now sends millions of free books to young children each month.

Here in Ohio, children from birth through age five can receive a free book every month through the program.

Thank you, Dolly, for the songs, the laughter, the rhinestones, and especially for helping raise generations of readers.

We will always love you.
