The Troy Fire Department provides fire and rescue services to the Towns of Troy, VT and Westfield, VT.

08/04/2026

8/3/26…7:22pm…Troy Fire was dispatched to a residence on North Hill Road in Westfield for a smoke alarm activation. Upon arrival multiple alarm’s were sounding. Firefighters cleared and metered all levels of the building. A faulty detector was found to be the culprit. Newport Ambulance was also on scene as well.

7/24/26….1:47am…Troy Fire responded into Potton, Quebec to assist Potton FD with a fully involved structure fire. Ladder 1, Tanker 2 and Rescue 5 responded and assisted in fire suppression at the scene. North Troy Fire Department also responded across the border to assist.

7/13/26….8:12pm….Troy Fire was dispatched to the area of Loop Road and Boudreau Road in Troy, for a single vehicle accident. Dispatch advised that the vehicle left the roadway and into a field. Prior to our arrival Vermont State Police on scene advised we could cancel our response.

7/4/26….11:38pm….Troy Fire was dispatched to the area of 1387 VT Route 101 in Troy for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, we found a full size pickup truck fully engulfed approximately 100 feet off the roadway in a field. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire without incident.

07/2/2026…4:54pm… Troy Fire responded to 392 North Hill Road in Westfield for a residential propane leak outside of the residence. TFD responded with Tanker 2, Engine 3, Rescue 5 and 14 personnel. Upon arrival crews made contact with the home owner and investigated the slight smell of a propane leak. Crews found that the pressure relief valve cap had blown off and the tank was releasing excess v***r. A Fred’s representative was contacted and they informed TFD they were En route to the scene. All hazards were mitigated safely and TFD was back in quarters, back in service by 6:00pm.

6/27/26…9:38am…Troy Fire was requested for manpower to respond into Lowell and assist them with removal of an injured hiker that was on the Long Trail. Crews ascended towards Tillotson’s Peak as that was the last known area the injured hiker was in. The first initial crew made contact with the patient at the Tillotson shelter on the Long Trail. The hiker was accessed by EMS and crews descended down with the patient. Lowell FD, Troy FD and Montgomery Search and Rescue worked very well together getting this person down off the mountain. Newport Ambulance was waiting for the patient when we arrived at the trailhead. Great teamwork!

06/23/2026…10:32am… Troy Fire was requested to respond Mutual Aid to 24 Rue Bellevue, Potton in Canada with an Aerial, a Tanker and Manpower. TFD responded with Ladder 1 and Tanker 2. Upon arrival, command staged TFD crews in a safe location due to previous explosions reported within the factory. Initial investigation confirmed light smoke conditions and heat signatures confined in one area. Multiple agencies were on standby on the scene. Investigation confirmed no active fire allowing command to release TFD crews back to the states. TFD was back in quarters, back in service at 12:00pm. North Troy Fire was also on scene.

We would like to take a moment to express our gratitude here folks…Each year Anheuser-Busch teams up with National Volunteer Fire Council and they donate 1.5 million cans of drinking water to fire departments and agencies across the country. In March, Troy FD applied for this grant and last month we were grateful to be chosen as a recipient. We want to thank both of these organizations for this fantastic opportunity! We also want to thank Farrell Distributing for the help with logistics and delivery!!

06/10/2026…9:28am… Troy Fire was requested to respond Mutual Aid to 327 Rue Principale Mansonville in Canada for a reported Garage Fire. Upon arrival mutual aid partners confirmed that an electric fan caught fire and was confirmed to be out. TFD crews and all apparatus returned to quarters and were back in service at 10:30am. North Troy Fire was also on scene.

05/21/2026…10:05am… Troy Fire was dispatched to the intersection of VT Route 101 and Veilleux Road in Troy for a downed power line across the road that is on fire. Upon arrival crews were met with active fire on both sides of VT Route 101 and along Veilleux Road. TFD crews simultaneously shut down both roadways, turned around all traffic and contained fire within a safe distance of the downed line. Vermont Electric Co-Op shut down power allowing crews to fully extinguish all active fire in the area. Vermont Electric Co-Op replaced the power line while TFD managed traffic. All units and personnel were back in service at 12:30pm.
