🚁 Meet the Med Crew Monday 🚁
This week, we’re excited to introduce Flight Paramedic Carly!
Carly began her career in healthcare in 2018 when she became a Combat Medic in the U.S. Army. That experience gave her a strong foundation in emergency medicine and sparked a passion for providing care in the field and in high-acuity situations.
After eight years in EMS, Carly joined Air Evac Lifeteam in May 2026 and became part of the AEL 143 family!
When asked what she enjoys most about healthcare and prehospital medicine, Carly said:
“I love that prehospital medicine combines science, critical thinking, hands-on skills, and the opportunity to make a difference for patients in some of their most vulnerable moments. I also really enjoy learning and teaching. Medicine is constantly changing, so there is always something new to learn, and I enjoy being able to share that knowledge and help others grow as well.”
Carly’s certifications and specialized training include:
• Paramedic
• Firefighter I & II
• HMA/HMO
• ACLS
• PALS
• NRP
• TCCC Instructor
• Instructor-Coordinator
• BLS/CPR Instructor
But Carly’s background in science doesn’t stop with EMS!
🧪 Fun fact about Carly: She has a degree in Biochemistry, has had scientific research published, and also holds a Master’s degree in Animal Behavior. Her background in science and research has played a huge role in shaping her love of learning, teaching, and medicine.
Outside of work, Carly definitely doesn’t slow down! She owns and operates a kayak tour business and spends much of her free time on the water. She enjoys kayaking, whitewater rafting, and pretty much anything involving the outdoors and a little adventure. She’s also an endurance runner, so when she isn’t working or on the water, there’s a good chance she’s training for her next race. 🛶🏃♀️
Carly’s path into EMS came from a lifelong interest in science and medicine. After volunteering and working in a hospital, she realized she was drawn to point-of-care medicine—the ability to assess a patient, make decisions, and provide treatment in real time. The combination of medicine, hands-on skills, and the unpredictability of the field made EMS the perfect fit.
When asked what she loves most about working with Air Evac, Carly said:
“There are a lot of things I enjoy about Air Evac, but being able to bring a higher level of care to patients in rural and underserved areas is probably my favorite. Since I also work in Memphis, I get to see both sides of emergency medicine, and I really appreciate the role Air Evac plays in connecting patients to the care they need. I also love flying and, most importantly, working alongside a great team. There is something pretty special about being part of a crew that trusts each other and works together when it matters most.”
One thing that stands out about Carly is her drive to never stop learning. Whether that knowledge comes from a patient, coworker, class, or challenging call, she continually pushes herself to become better at what she does—and she’s just as passionate about sharing that knowledge and helping others grow.
Carly, from serving as a Combat Medic to becoming a paramedic, instructor, scientist, and now a HEMS clinician, you’ve built a pretty incredible foundation in emergency medicine.
We’re excited to watch you continue to grow, and we’re so glad to have you flying alongside us at Air Evac Lifeteam 143! 🚁❤️
