🚨 TRAFFIC UPDATE 🚨 (08/28/26 at 4:00pm)

The #1 lane of eastbound I-80 near Floriston is now OPEN. The #2 lane remains CLOSED while crews continue working at the scene of this morning’s big rig traffic collision.

Expect significant delays. There is a substantial traffic backup in the area, and emergency personnel and equipment remain on scene.

Please slow down, use caution, and give crews plenty of room while traveling through the area.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT – I-80 eastbound and Hirschdale 🚨

I-80 eastbound traffic is currently being turned around at Hirschdale due to a solo big rig traffic collision near Floriston.

There is no estimated time for reopening the roadway at this time.

Please avoid the area, expect delays, and use caution around emergency personnel. We will provide updates as they become available.

Well… that went sideways. Literally 😬

A driver towing this trailer found out the hard way that keeping things upright is usually part of the plan. After CHP officers arrived and began their investigation, they determined the driver was under the influence. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.

Thankfully, this one ended with an overturned trailer and not a tragedy. If you drink, don’t drive… especially when you’re towing a few extra thousand pounds behind you.

Tow smart. Drive sober. Keep the shiny side up.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT – I-80 EASTBOUND AT DONNER LAKE INTERCHANGE 🚨

Well… this is one way to start the morning.

A solo big rig overturned on eastbound I-80 near the Donner Lake Interchange. The #1 and #2 lanes are blocked, but traffic is getting through in the center divide. Thankfully, the driver sustained only minor injuries.

Please slow down and give emergency and cleanup crews plenty of room while we clean up the mess.

The heat is up, but don’t let that stop you! Come hang out with us tonight in Downtown Truckee and stop by the CHP Truckee DUI/DDP booth to say hi!

Throw on the DUI goggles, grab some CHP swag, and see firsthand why driving impaired is never worth the risk.

As we enjoy the final Truckee Thursday, remember… if you’ve been drinking, don’t drive. Plan ahead, choose a sober driver, and make sure everyone gets home safely. One bad decision behind the wheel can change lives forever.

We love seeing built rigs around Truckee…

But we’re pretty sure this one took a wrong turn somewhere between the trailhead and the state route 😅

Have fun, wheel responsibly, and remember…Rock crawlers belong on the rocks, not creating traffic on the highway.
