What a month it has been. Thank you to every volunteer, donor, and neighbor who made August so meaningful for the seniors we serve. September is right around the corner, and we cannot wait to keep gathering, delivering, and connecting together. See you Wednesday.

As August winds down, we are reflecting on all the meals shared, gatherings held, and neighbors supported this month, and none of it happens without you. If you have been thinking about giving, now is a wonderful time. Every donation helps a senior in our community stay nourished and connected.

Sierra Senior Services participated in Tastes of Incline for the first time yesterday, and what a wonderful evening it was.

Our team served stuffed pasta shells with an Italian sausage marinara, and the response was incredible. A special thank you to Chef Maurice and our culinary team for preparing such a delicious dish and showcasing the care and quality behind what Sierra Senior Services does every day.

Our Executive Director, Vivian Ruiz, believes a meal is at the heart of what we do, and a strong community is one where organizations show up for and support one another. As the local Meals on Wheels provider serving seniors throughout Nevada, Placer, and Washoe Counties including Incline Village, participating in this fundraiser was a meaningful way to support another nonprofit through something that is already such an important part of our mission: food and connection.

Tastes of Incline supports P.E.O. Chapter AC and its work to help women pursue educational opportunities. We were grateful to support their mission while sharing a little of what we do best.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, enjoyed the food and spent time with our team. When local organizations support one another, the entire community benefits. ❤️

We’ll see you at the Truckee Community Block Party!

We are excited to join organizations from across our community for this year’s Block Party on September 17.

Come find us at the event to learn more about the mission at Sierra Senior Services.

Bring your family, invite your neighbors, and come say hello! Local food trucks, a community art installation to participate in, kids crafts, games, free face painting, live music, poetry and performances are just some of the activities to expect.

Today's gathering had some extra special guests. In honor of National Dog Day, a few furry friends stopped by to say hello during lunch, and the smiles said it all. Pets bring so much comfort and joy, just like our Wednesday mornings of art, connection, and a good meal together.

Today, Sierra Senior Services joins people around the world in remembering the incomparable Dolly Parton. 🤍

Dolly will always be remembered for her music, but her kindness and compassion reached far beyond the stage. She believed deeply in caring for people, staying connected to community, and honoring the generations who came before us.

This photo of Dolly spending time with seniors feels especially meaningful to us. It was taken during her visit to the My People Senior Activity Center in Sevierville, Tennessee, where she spent time with older adults, joined in activities, and spoke about the importance of staying active, involved, and connected.

It reflects something we believe every day at Sierra Senior Services. Older adults deserve connection, dignity, joy, and the comfort of knowing they are seen and valued.

Dolly understood the importance of community and the power of simply showing up for others. That spirit of kindness is a legacy worth carrying forward.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music, the laughter, the generosity, and the heart you shared with so many.

Rest in peace, Dolly Parton. Your kindness will continue to inspire generations. 🤍

Every meal is freshly prepared with care to provide more than nourishment. It is also a chance to bring comfort, connection, and a friendly reminder to the seniors we serve that they are part of a caring community.
