Technical Rope Rescue – Day 3

Day 3 of Technical Rope Rescue training is in the books! Members of Las Palomas Fire-EMS-Extrication, Elephant Butte Fire Department, and Sierra Vista Hospital EMS continued building their skills in rope systems, teamwork, and technical rescue operations.

This multi-agency training, taught by Rescue Tactics and Training, strengthens not only individual skills but also the coordination and teamwork needed when complex rescues happen in our communities.

It was a busy weekend for Sierra Vista Hospital EMS!

Our crews provided standby coverage at the Adam Peterson Memorial Ranch Rodeo and the Dutch Oven Cook-Off in Winston, while others completed the first half of a Technical Rope Rescue Operations course with Las Palomas Fire-EMS-Extrication and Elephant Butte Fire Department. We were also able to provide an American Heart Association Basic Life Support course for partner organizations, clinical staff, and community members.

Meanwhile, our crews responded to numerous high-acuity 911 calls throughout Sierra County.

Whether training, supporting events, or responding to emergencies, our commitment remains the same—providing the highest level of care to the communities we serve. Thank you to our dedicated crews for their professionalism and teamwork throughout the weekend!

Over the past two weeks, members of Sierra Vista Hospital EMS, Sierra Vista Hospital Security Team, Elephant Butte Fire Department, and Truth or Consequences Police Department completed the 40-hour Basic Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) course presented by Public Safety Psychology Group (PSPG).

This training strengthens our team's ability to recognize mental health crises, communicate effectively, de-escalate challenging situations, and connect individuals with appropriate resources. These skills help us provide safer, more compassionate care for our patients, our community, and our responders.

A big thank you to PSPG for providing this outstanding training and helping us continue to grow as healthcare professionals committed to excellence.
