Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking evening as we explore the rich history that shapes our community.

The Tryon Historic Preservation Commission invites you to a special presentation by Jack Thomson, titled “Patchwork Quilt of Preservation,” on Friday, May 15th at 5:00pm at the Tryon Depot.

Historic preservation plays a vital role in communities like Tryon. It is more than safeguarding old buildings—it is about protecting the stories, character, and cultural identity that make our town unique. In small towns, where history is visible in every street and storefront, preserving these assets strengthens community pride, supports heritage tourism, and fosters economic vitality. By maintaining our historic fabric, we ensure that future generations can experience the same sense of place that defines Tryon today.

This presentation will highlight how preservation efforts come together like a patchwork quilt—each piece contributing to a larger, meaningful whole that reflects both our past and our future.

This event is hosted by the Tryon Historic Preservation Commission and supported by the Tryon Downtown Development Association and the Tryon History Museum. We encourage residents, business owners, and visitors alike to attend and be part of the ongoing story of Tryon.
