Good afternoon friends. There is a lot going on in the world of weather right now so I wanted to touch base and give you some highlights.
First of all, there is a lot of excitement about the graphics you are seeing forecasting 15" of snow or more... While I would encourage you to continue to prepare for that... please don't take that as gospel as there is a lot going on in the atmosphere and it is simply not possible to forecast exact amounts right now. In reality, we are looking at anywhere from 4 inches to 15. At this moment in time we can expect somewhere between 8 and 12 inches but that is still not a slam dunk. So there is a lot of wiggle room in there. That weather system is still out over the pacific ocean...a lot will change once it comes ashore.
Second... please please please don't get so wrapped up in the snowfall forecast that you fail to prepare for the most dangerous element of what is to come.. the wind chills. Our area is looking at a MINIMUM of -16 degrees wind chill Sunday through Tuesday. Those are life threatening conditions to anyone caught out in them. Please make sure your vehicles are in good working order, you have winter weather clothing, blankets etc with you if you MUST travel... but my recommendation would be to stay in and safe if at all possible.
The combination of strong winds and heavy snowfall may create low visibilities, blowing and drifting snow and in some cases blizzard conditions so if you have travel plans you may want to reconsider.
We will provide more updates as the system gets closer and the models start to come into agreeance. In the meantime, please use today and tomorrow to prep your homes, vehicles, livestock etc for what is to come. This system shouldn't be taken lightly.

Please only go out if you really need to thank you

Good Afternoon Lincoln County. I hope you're all holding up ok. We received updated numbers a little while ago and unfortunately Lincoln County is now up to 9 confirmed positive cases. The state is up to 1327 positives and 51 deaths.
I know I am harping on this, or preaching ... and maybe some of you are tired of it... or no longer reading it... but what I am trying to do is prevent some very sad reality that is occurring in other jurisdictions from occurring here. Several nursing homes in the metro areas now have positive cases inside their walls. The residents have been on lock down for quite some time.. this means the exposure is coming from the outside. Employees, delivery drivers etc.... who may not even be sick, or know that they have been exposed, are bringing this in from the outside, to the most vulnerable population we have.
This also means you can unknowingly be bringing this into your own homes or workplaces. THIS is why we ask you to limit your time out and about as much as possible. I'm not saying this to scare anyone. This page is about education, not fear. I just want to be clear, this isn't just about keeping yourself from getting sick. It's about this virus possibly using you as an uber to go somewhere else.
That being said, Our health department is now providing testing here in the county, so we will probably see our numbers increase. This doesn't mean the outbreak is that much worse, it just means we have more access to testing. BUT, we still need as much cooperation as possible on social distancing.

Lincoln County Emergency Management

Lincoln County Emergency Management in Conjunction with the Lincoln County Health Department and Oklahoma State Department of Health will be holding an educational public forum regarding the evolving Covid-19 (Coronavirus) situation in Oklahoma at 2:00PM in the Fellowship Hall at Davenport First Baptist Church located at 625 Sante Fe Street, Davenport on Friday March 13. This is a great way to get your questions answered and hopefully ease some of your concerns.
We will try and get this set up to facebook live it so those of you we can't attend in person can watch. Watch this page for updates.
There are still only two cases in the state of Oklahoma and they are both in the Tulsa area. Formal press release coming out soon!

When a dispatcher sets off a tone at any given time of day or night a Firefighter, EMT, or Paramedic is startled awake, gets dressed in seconds & is en route to an emergency. Regardless of hour, weather, holiday, or anything else, when needed, they promptly respond. In honor of them & to show them the appreciation they deserve, put this as your status if you are an emergency responder or if you know or love one. Stay safe & have a blessed 2020. 🚓💙🚑❤️🚒
