Border Community Alliance

Border Community Alliance BCA's mission is bridging the border and fostering community through education, & cultural exchange. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization.

Border Community Alliance offers access to the rich heritage and great potential of the US/Mexico borderlands of Arizona/Sonora through education, research, cultural exchange, and advocacy for social welfare in partnership with FESAC, a Sonoran NGO. Our mission
BCA is about bridging the border and fostering community through education, collaboration and cultural exchange. We do this in the Nogales

region of Southern Arizona/Sonora Mexico. We have no religious or political affiliations. We depend on donations and grants for funding. Incorporated in the state of Arizona, our board members reside in southern Arizona. Our advisory board consists of people from across the globe. We are based in Tubac, Arizona, a community forty miles south of Tucson and twenty miles north of the US/Mexico border. Values
We believe in social investment, not charity. We seek to listen and learn from each other, rather than presume we know it all. We respect the cultures and traditions of both Mexico and the US. We value working together with like-minded organizations and individuals on both sides of the border. We welcome participation in our programs regardless of one’s viewpoint of immigration.

We're thrilled to have our 2026 Borderlands Ambassador interns with us this summer!

Led by our Borderlands Ambassador Program Supervisor, Amy Tice, our ambassadors will live in Nogales, AZ, do service learning projects in Nogales, Sonora with Voices from the Border and and work with our partner organizations such as Fundación del Empresariado Sonorense, A.C. - FESAC.

Thanks to Alma Cota de Yanez, executive director of FESAC for leading this recent social investment tour in Nogales, Sonora with our interns.

Also, special thanks to the Arizona Community Foundation and our amazing donors for their generous support of this program.

BCA executive director, Celia Bavier, along with supporters and fellow seamstresses from Desert Lutheran Church in Green Valley, AZ and FESAC Nogales, Sonora community foundation director, Alma Cota de Yanez, attended the graduation ceremony for the Guadalupe Sewing Co-op Training Program in Nogales, Sonora yesterday.

This 12-year old cross-border entrepreneurial program provides sewing skills for women who want to start their own at-home sewing business, donations of equipment and fabric, and camaraderie and friendship through bi-weekly classes and sewing workshops.

It was a fun and festive day and the talents of this bi-national group are quite something!

Need a quinciera or bridesmaid dress, costume or favorite outfit made affordably? Just reach out and we will connect you with this group of extraordinary women.
