The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for our area through tonight.

Periods of heavy rain are expected throughout the remainder of the day and overnight, with 2.5 to 3.5 inches of rainfall forecast and locally higher amounts possible. This amount of rainfall may result in flooding of roadways and other low-lying areas.

Residents in locations that are historically prone to flooding, including the areas of 100 Columbus Ave, 15 Marbledale Rd, Washington St, Lake Ave, and Garrett St, are encouraged to remain alert and be prepared to move their vehicles if flooding develops.

Please use caution while driving, never attempt to drive through flooded roadways, and monitor local weather conditions for updates.

If you encounter a flooded roadway or an emergency, please contact the Tuckahoe Police Department or dial 911 if immediate assistance is needed.

This morning, we received multiple reports of unlocked vehicles being entered overnight. We would like to remind all residents to lock their vehicle doors and remove valuables, especially during the overnight hours.

Unsecured vehicles continue to be easy targets for opportunistic theft. Taking a few seconds to lock your vehicle can help prevent unnecessary loss and inconvenience.

Help protect your vehicle by:

-Locking your doors
-Removing your keys and key fobs
-Keeping valuables out of sight or taking them with you

If you observe any suspicious activity, please contact the Tuckahoe Police Department at 914-961-4800. In the event of an emergency, always call 911.

This past weekend, the Tuckahoe Police Department hosted our annual Youth Community Safety Day and Car Seat Inspection Event at Main Street Park, and once again we had a tremendous turnout!

Residents from across the Village came out to meet our officers, take part in the bicycle safety course, learn important safety tips, enjoy hot dogs, and spend time with K-9 Eddie, who was on hand to meet all the children and pose for plenty of photos.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this year’s event such a success!
