Sending a huge congratulations to and best wishes to my former Future Soldier Private Benjamin, Seth who not only recently graduated from Dekalb Early College Academy where he earned his High School Diplpma while attending GA State University Clarkston Campus as a duel enrolled student. Private Benjamin recently shipped off to Basic Training to begin his career serving as a 35N Signals Intelligence Analyst. It has been a true honor along with the to assist you while you were in our Future Soldier Training Program and we wish you nothing but the best in your career. Ask yourself this question, how many people do you know that can graduate from high school between the ages of 17-18 and be granted a Top Secret Security Clearance that will enable them to work in/around highly classified information with zero work experience? Good morning to all. There’s a saying, “Anything worth having is worth fighting for”. Let me tell you this young OUTSTANDING gentleman is a prime example of that saying. About 7 months prior to the COVID-19 outbreak/shutdown, he approached me with plan and a purpose where he entrusted me to assist him to put his plans into purpose by enlisting into the United States Army. Unfortunately, there was a minor setback with his process not only due to the COVID-19 shutdown, but us both finding out that his high school diploma was not accredited by the state of Georgia. Although he was discouraged from hearing this, he refused to accept defeat and was able to earn a G.E.D. within 30 days thus allowing him to complete his enlistment into the United States Army as an 88M Motor Transportation Operator. This OUTSTANDING young man’s name is Private Michael Roebuck Jr and I am TRULY honored to have been able to assist him along with my fellow NCO’s on his transition to achieving his goals through the United States Army. It’s one thing to be able serve with honor and transition back to civilian life, but it’s another to have the desire to want to come back and into the Army and answer the call again to serve. It is the highest honor to be able to assist Army Specialist De’Angelo Woodruff who answered the call to transition back into the Regular Army (Full Time Status). In one year, he will have his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management complete and won’t have to pay a single penny in student loan debt thanks to the Army Tuition Assistance and Post 9-11 GI Bill programs. Once he completes his degree, SPC Woodruff will be pursuing the opportunity to attend Officer Candidate School to transition to become a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He is truly a “Go Getter” and I am looking forward for to seeing the day you commission and render the first salute to you as a newly commissioned officer. With that stated, if you truly want to know more about the United States Army and what opportunities we have, DO NOT allow anyone to talk you out of getting information for yourself especially someone that has never served. Whenever I begin to second guess myself and wonder why I came on board as a 79R back in 2013, I’m reminded on days such as today that we as 79R’s are truly changing lives for the better for so many out here. This young gentleman you see here just 5 years ago fled his home country of Rwanda along with his entire family to United States to pursue a better life and not have to become victims of genocide. He speaks fluent French, Swhaili and his English reading and writing skills is solid I tell you. He is hungry to make a name for himself and truly understands the essence of working hard to achieve his goals and he will achieve them through the AR.
