Friday, Tucker Unit wrapped up Correctional Officer Appreciation Week with an Italian Bistro-themed lunch. There were a few last drawings and prizes handed out, and then the games were on!! Tucker Unit also recognized just a few of its MANY great staff for going above & beyond:
The Rising Star Award went to Cpl. Adriano Holmes.
The Outstanding Progress Award went to Cpl. Sylvester Parker.
The Excellence in Attendence Award went to Sgt. Latonya Sellars.
SuperStar Awards went to Cpl. Dajour Nelson, Cpl. Justin Powell, Lt. James MacAlla, and Natalie Cotton.
Finally, SuperStar Awards also went to Sharnee Jones, Dana McCoy, Emily Wood, Katrice Surratt, Michaela Powell, Kevin Bledsoe, and Teresa Olaore for their work putting the events of this week together.

This week has been busy at Tucker Unit! We were busy showing correctional staff how much we appreciate what they do. Stepping behind that fence every day is not easy. In fact, it can be dangerous, stressful, exhausting work. The Tucker Unit leadership wants staff to know that they are never alone. We see you and we care about you, not just this week but every day. Thank you for all your hard work!

We kicked off Correctional Officer Appreciation Week with a full hot breakfast served to the shifts on Monday and Wednesday. Then, we had a fiesta lunch for shift, admin staff, utility staff, field, etc. on Tuesday & Thursday. Games were provided and everyone got a little bit of time to play and relax. It was great to spend some time together, laughing & connecting with each other. Every staff member was given a gift bag with usable items and some snacks. Everyone was also entered in a drawing for a 40 inch TV and several raffles of random gift cards.
