Impending Nor’easter – Storm Advisory
Tuckerton Borough Emergency Management is closely monitoring a powerful coastal storm expected to impact our area on Sunday. This system is being described as a potential “bomb cyclone” and is shaping up to be a significant winter event.
Current forecasts indicate this storm could bring a dangerous combination of heavy rain, icing, high winds, and significant snowfall. Blizzard conditions are possible, and snow totals continue to increase with each forecast update. As with all major weather events, projections can change, but this storm has the potential to produce record snowfall amounts in our region.
Early preparation is critical.
In anticipation of potential flooding, the Borough Hall Parking Lot (140 East Main Street) and Bay Avenue Ball Field for trailers/boats will be opened for emergency parking. Please do not block the gates at the ballfield, as this area is used by EMS for air evacuations during extreme emergencies.
During snow events, on-street parking is strictly prohibited. The Borough’s top priority is to keep roadways open and accessible for Fire and EMS response. Access to vehicles parked in designated overflow lots may be limited due to snowbanks created during plowing operations. It will be the vehicle owner’s responsibility to remove their vehicle if necessary.
Fire and EMS crews will be on standby around the clock throughout the storm to respond to emergencies.
Now is the time to prepare:
• Secure outdoor items.
• Ensure you have necessary medications and supplies.
• Prepare for possible power outages.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm conditions.
Expect the worst and prepare early. Your safety depends on it.
Stay safe,
Mike Dupuis Sr.
