TMC for Seniors offers aging adults a place to learn, exercise and socialize alongside fellow Southern Arizona residents. It can be hard to tell if an older person is being abused or neglected, but there are some signs to look out for. First, it’s important to know that abuse comes in many forms - physical, emotional, sexual, financial and neglect. While there are signs, they are not necessarily proof of abuse, however they may signal that there is a problem.

Chronic wounds on the foot and leg often occur in approximately 15 percent of patients with diabetes and are commonly located on the bottom of the foot. Without proper care and treatment the wound can become more infected and painful resulting in loss of toes, feet and in worse cases lower legs. A community art project brings an additional layer of joy to Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona. Thanks to a collaboration between TMC for Seniors and Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona, a series of vibrant fence panels were created to brighten up the space! With the help of artist and volunteer, Carolyn King, participants enjoyed a fun and creative experience together.

Creating art makes seniors at TMC for Seniors and St. Luke’s Home feel like kids again!

Local artist, Carolyn King, worked with participants to cut and paint tiles to create a mosaic mural on a courtyard wall at St. Luke’s Home. Yesterday, artists, friends and staff from TMC for Seniors and St. Luke’s gathered for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion and installation of the mural.

Well done Benson Hospital and Northern Cochise Community Hospital! Our two critical access hospitals have been recognized as an Age-Friendly Health System by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. This in-person session allows you to experience what it might be like to have dementia.

To create confusion, we limit your physical senses, making it difficult for you to do simple tasks. You’ll learn what it’s like to “walk in their shoes” for five minutes and better understand the behaviors and needs of those with dementia.

Conscious aging is embracing spiritual elderhood as both a developmental stage of life, and a calling. How do we access our spiritual selves in this specific stage of older age?

What does it mean?

In this workshop we will explore how aging is a stage of life, not an “age,” and that by letting go of age-related fears or patterns informed by the archetype of our “inner ageist,” we become aware of the fullness and beauty of this human stage of development. In learning to shift from constantly “doing,” to an awareness of “being,” we are then able to hear our inner voice, opening possibilities of creativity, new energy, resilience, and wisdom.
