The Library offers free materials, computer access, classes, exhibitions, programming and more, to everyone from toddlers to r

etirees. The Pima County Public Library serves the over 5 million patrons who come through our doors annually, and many more who use our electronic research, learning, and streaming media services. We have been recognized nationally for recent innovations such as our Seed Library, Bookbike, and public health nurse programs. First Library: "Library Hall" was established in 1883 on the 2nd floor of Tucson's City Hall (the building no longer exists), and opened to the public on July 6, 1886. Number of Libraries: 27

Each year at the Tucson Festival of Books, Pima County Public Library staff--along with librarians and teachers from local high schools--lead small groups of teens in recording exclusive interviews with authors of current Young Adult fiction. We provide the teens with reading copies of the titles authors are promoting at the festival and, after reading and discussing their books, our teens craft the questions they pose to authors entirely on their own and conduct each interview with minimal guidance. These conversations highlight teen voices as they explore life and writing with authors and are truly magical to experience.
