FNB Tucson has started a free grocery program called Tucson Food Share! Sharing groceries twice a week. We will soon be offering deliveries to you home, stay tuned! Please share this flyer far and wide. Check out tucsonfoodshare.org to learn more about the project, donate, and plug in to volunteer~
In times of crisis, our most reliable support comes from within our communities. Tucson Food Share is a collective effort by and for Tucsonans to share life-giving resources amongst ourselves, without dependence upon government or corporate support. We operate by the principles of mutual aid, distributing food and other necessities without judgment to anyone who asks. We seek to make resources accessible, prioritizing the needs of our neighbors who are forgotten, ignored, and exploited by those in power. This is an entirely volunteer-run project that depends upon donations from community members to function.
Our current operations:
* Receiving bulk donations or purchasing supplies wholesale.
* Packing groceries for individual households in a sanitary, controlled environment to prevent the spread of contagions.
* Distributing groceries at 600 N 4th Ave, Mondays 5-7pm and Thursdays 8-10am.
* Delivering groceries directly to households to support those who are self-isolating in their homes.
* Cooking and sharing a community meal every Sunday evening in De Anza Park, 1 hr before sunset until dark.
* Using strict hygiene protocols in line with WHO and CDC recommendations to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
We support anyone who:
* Is already self-isolating because their age and/or medical conditions put them in serious danger if they contract the virus.
* Can’t afford expensive grocery delivery services, and must either risk exposure or go hungry.
* Is sick and cannot leave home for fear of infecting others.
* Can’t afford groceries because of lost work or structural poverty.
* Is otherwise unable to reliably access nourishing food.

A Family Affair

Liberty Disposal was founded in 1989 by the Brigance family with one truck, originally serving the Baltimore-Washington DC area. They opened Sea Coast Disposal in 1997 to respond to hurricane disaster clean up. In 2003 The sole focus of Sea Coast became government refuse and recycling contracts successfully performing on several million dollars in contracts in 13 different states. In 2014, they added Arizona Hometown Hauling & Disposal in Tucson to serve commercial customers.

Today the companies have all merged into one, Liberty Disposal.

LDI is owned 100% by Matthew Brigance a co-founder with his parents Karen and Dennis whom are still active in the company.

Today our company is managed by a team of leaders by state, Cathy Rosa in Arizona, whom has a large span of control. Matt travels to each location often and is very “hands on”. And yes….still in trouble with parents on that expense account!
