Tin Town, Tucson

Tin Town, Tucson Tin Town open by appointment only. Please call 520 869-3470. Thanks Their dream was to turn the structure into their home.

TinTown, formerly known as the H&W Market in the Pie Allen Neighborhood, was born in 1982, when Pat & Gary purchased the original General Store market as a residence. Within just a few years, the Historical Society awarded Tin Town the restoration and creative adaptive reuse award. Once the home was initially purchased, the surrounding land was acquired. Using design elements unique to the southwe

st, and recycled materials, the Western Mining town started to blossom. With an emphasis on historic integrity, and attention to detail that is second-to-none, Tin Town is an expression of the owner’s lighthearted yet respectful thought of the lost ingenuity of the craftsmanship of the tools and machinery of the old west. Tin Town greets visitors street side with 4,000 lb pulley wheels, a Mexican jail house door and other interesting items. With prime location, one block south of the University of Arizona and four blocks from several shopping areas great restaurants and theaters, year round visitors and repeat travelers choose Tin Town for their one-of-a-kind getaway. Tin Town has been featured on 3 television shows, Extreme Homes (HGTV), Weird Homes (Discovery) and Arizona Illustrated, and received the 2006 DIY Design Award from Tucson Home Magazine. Tin Town is nestled close to the University of Arizona and downtown Tucson. If you’d like to stay for a few days, you can enjoy the convenience of nearby 4th Avenue shopping, dining, theaters, the University of Arizona Art Museum and observatory. Tin Town allows guests to relax while experiencing the inter-city activities or nightlife! Kick off your boots in the warm Arizona climate and spend an afternoon exploring the saloon, church, mine, print shop, “house of joy”, circus wagon, vintage spartan trailer, museum, and authentic Yuma Prison Jail Cell.

Barbara and Anthony the daughter and grandson of Ham and Julie Wong visited us last week. We had been waiting for a visit from the family for a long time. They were able to see what we had done to their parents Market and they thought we had turned the Market into a happy place. It was a wonderful visit and we hope they come back again. The day Barbara's mother Julie was murdered here her father had gone to the post office to mail Barbara's Xmas presents to her in San Francisco....Anthony the grandson had just left the market when his grandmother was killed during the attempted robbery. We had a great visit with them and it was a special day for us and them.

Remember the Carpet Giant sign that was at the corner of Speedway and Rosemont for many years...it advertised a carpet store "It takes a giant to hold down prices"...that store is now the antique mall and thanks to the owner Phil...we now have the Carpet Giant mounted on our ceiling ..it is 10x9feet...its looks really special and we have saved a part of Tucson's history!!
