The Stop AAPI Hate Initiative reported nearly 3,800 anti-Asian hate incidents in the United States from March 2020 to February 2021; 70% of these incidents are against Asian women (Jeung et al., 2021).
The Associated Students of the University of Arizona (ASUA) Senate stands with the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community during this difficult time.
As your senators, it is our responsibility to ensure that studentsā voices are amplified and heard and issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion are addressed properly. We do not tolerate the hatred, violence, and bias against the AAPI community on campus and beyond.
We would like to reiterate and emphasize the University of Arizonaās Non-Discrimination Statement:
