Today, the Pima Alano Club hosted its first annual Community Outreach Resource Fair and invited OPCS to share information about our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and recovery services.
The Pima Alano Club serves as an important hub where individuals in recovery can build meaningful connections, access resources, and strengthen their support networks. OPCS is honored to be part of that journey and grateful for the opportunity to further connect with and support our community. Yesterday, OPCS welcomed Richard Fimbres, his family, friends, and members of the Ward 5 community to celebrate the dedication of the Richard Fimbres Training Center at our Center for Housing First. A plaque honoring his lifetime of service and dedication to Tucson was unveiled during the ceremony. Richard Fimbres served as Ward 5 Councilmember for more than 15 years, leaving a lasting impact on countless individuals, families, and neighborhoods throughout the community.

During the ceremony, Mayor Regina Romero, Vice Mayor Lane Santa Cruz, and current Ward 5 Councilmember Selina Barajas reflected on the opportunities Richard helped create and highlighted the enduring influence of his leadership, even in retirement. His wife, Mary Fimbres, shared touching remarks that reminded everyone of the commitment and compassion that have defined Richard's life and work.

Richard Fimbres has touched countless lives through his years of public service, and we were honored to come together to celebrate his remarkable legacy and the lasting contributions he has made to our community. The Richard Fimbres Training Center will stand as a lasting tribute to his unwavering commitment to public service and his dedication to strengthening Ward 5 and Tucson for generations to come.

OPCS has been awarded a three-year grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide both Bridge Housing and Low Demand Housing for veterans experiencing homelessness. Through this funding, Bridge Housing beds will be available for up to 90 days for veterans who have been approved for permanent housing and need temporary accommodations while awaiting placement. Low Demand Housing beds will be available for up to 24 months for veterans experiencing substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and/or chronic homelessness. These beds will help meet the need in the Tucson community of increasing Veteran homelessness and higher rates of substance use and chronic homelessness.

Last Saturday, members of the OPCS Board of Directors treated Casa Del Pueblo shelter residents to a delicious homemade brunch. Residents lined up to enjoy a hot meal and time together in community. We are grateful to have such dedicated board members who generously give their time to make a difference and brighten someone's day. Thank you for your service, compassion, and kindness! ❤️🏠

We want to extend a huge thank you to Casino Del Sol for selecting Old Pueblo Community Services (OPCS) as one of the recipients of this year's Casino Del Sol Charity Golf Tournament proceeds.
Through the tournament, $100,000 was raised and shared between OPCS and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe Charitable Organization. These funds will help OPCS provide critical services, emergency shelter, supportive housing, and other essential resources to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community.
We are honored to be recognized alongside the Pascua Yaqui Tribe Charitable Organization, whose work provides assistance, education, and support to those in need in our community.
Thank you to Casino Del Sol for this remarkable investment in our community and for welcoming us to Sewailo Golf Club to receive this generous gift and share our mission. We look forward to continued collaboration with Casino Del Sol and Pascua Yaqui Tribe Charitable Organization as we work together to create lasting positive change for Southern Arizona.
