Sonora Cohousing Sonora Cohousing is an intentional community in Tucson. This type of housing began in Denmark in the late 1960s, and spread to North America in the late 1980s.

About Cohousing
Cohousing communities are an attempt to offer people more than they typically find in America's suburbs today. The traditional advantages of home ownership remain, and are enhanced by the benefits of shared common facilities and ongoing connections with neighbors. There are now more than a hundred cohousing communities completed or in development across the U.S. and Canada. The phy

sical design of cohousing communities re-establishes many of the advantages of traditional neighborhoods. The design encourages interaction between individuals, breaking down the isolation typical of suburban developments and creating a small-town atmosphere, while maintaining all the privacy treasured by most Americans.
