The true basis for our holiday charity is to benefit the recipients, the children. All of our activities are based strictly on a volunteer basis without monetary gain to any facet of our charity. Any donations that may be received would be distributed throughout the calendar year to organizations such as the Gospel Rescue Mission. The Toy Drive
On the last Saturday before Thanksgiving volunteers c
ome together and distribute gift-wrapped “Toy Collection” boxes at various businesses and locations (our associated sponsors) throughout the City of Tucson. Sponsorship requirement is simply “the placement” of collection boxes at the sponsor’s location. Volunteers will collect all toys through the “Toy Drive” period, which runs from November 23rd through December 22nd, 2013. All toys are distributed primarily to The Gospel Rescue Mission and any overflow to other local “faith-based” charities, police departments and the City of South Tucson fire department. Toy distribution occurs on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th of December. All sponsors are provided free advertising through social media and the TransChem website continuously through the holiday season. Toys for Tucson as originally founded in 2005, amended its name to emphasize “The Original” Toys for Tucson; this was facilitated through the Arizona Secretary of State office in October of 2011. Our first holiday season collection activities started with ten volunteer drop-off locations and yielded approximately 1,000 toys for local Tucson kids. In our second season our drop off locations increased to thirty-four and we collected over 5,000 toys. Our third season, our drop-off locations increased to fifty-five and our toy collection activities were so enormous we could only estimate the dollar amount of toys collected, which was in excess of over $50,000.00. Year four drop locations increased to sixty-five and collection activities yielded an entire 53’ semi trailer full of toys. The 2009 Toy Collection activities marginally exceeded our prior year, while 2010 was in keeping with 2009.
