(I/CAD MSG) OTF 20:42:35 : ROUTE 80 13084 TOT XTS:KINGSLEY RD/ROUTE 20, , MVC -X: M911 NO CC RE MVC IN THE AREA UNK INJ SOUTH OF THIS ADDRESS -- NOT A WITNESS HEARD IT WHILE IN THE BACKYARD

This evening at 2042 hours, Otisco was alerted for a possible motor vehicle collision. Otisco Cars 1, 2, and 3, TP1, and SD2 responded to the assignment. Upon arrival, the Chiefs determined the incident involved a vehicle versus deer, with hazards requiring attention and an evaluation of the involved party. Members operated on scene for approximately 30 minutes before turning the scene over to the New York State Police.

(I/CAD MSG) OTF 15:19:41 : OAK HILL RD 13159 TOT XTS:STEVENS RD/DEER HAVEN CT, IFO , FIRE -V: M911 NO CC NOT INVOLVED- ONE VEH IN DITCH - NO INJ - NISSAN ** EVERYONE OUT OF VEH AU ALSO VEH IS SMOKING

This afternoon at 1519 hours, while Otisco Fire was attending the Town’s “End of the Year Summer Bash,” Otisco Fire was alerted for a vehicle fire secondary to a motor vehicle accident.

Otisco Cars 1 & 3, TP1, and SD2 responded to the assignment. Upon arrival, Otisco Chiefs confirmed a vehicle was into the ditch and on fire. The sole occupant was out of the vehicle and reported no injuries.

Members operated on scene for approximately 30 minutes, extinguishing the fire and addressing associated hazards. The scene was then turned over to the New York State Police.

This evening members were able to attend National Night Out in Homer with our Mini and Special Operations trailer with the UTV.

Over the past four days, four of our members joined 12 other firefighters from across New York State at the State Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany to complete the Rope Technician course.

This advanced rope rescue course consisted of 32 hours of hands-on training, challenging participants with a variety of technical rescue scenarios. From artificial high points and pick-offs to traverses, some techniques served as valuable refreshers while others pushed students to think outside the box and find more efficient ways to accomplish the task.

This opportunity has been three years in the making, and we’re proud that our members were finally able to earn a spot in this highly sought-after training. Their commitment to expanding their knowledge and sharpening their skills helps ensure our department is prepared to provide the highest level of service to our community and surroundings

This evening’s drill gave members the opportunity to refresh their EMS and Search and Rescue skills. Members practiced patient assessment and treatment while safely loading, transporting, and evacuating a patient off the mountain using our UTV.

It was a productive evening that emphasized communication, teamwork, and EMS skills, helping ensure our members remain prepared to respond when needed.

Our UTV has been requested and utilized by multiple agencies throughout Southern Onondaga County and has proven to be an efficient and valuable resource for reaching patients in challenging terrain. Training regularly with this equipment helps ensure our members can deploy it safely and effectively whenever it’s needed.

This afternoon at 1311 hours, the Otisco Fire Department was requested along with Marcellus Fire by Marcellus Ambulance to assist with a person down on a trail off Route 174.

Otisco Car 1, Car 3, SD2, and the Mini/UTV responded to the assignment. Members assisted with patient care and safely moved the patient from the trail to a waiting ambulance.

Units operated on scene for approximately one hour before returning to service.
