💥RAD crawl participating artist: Shawn Farley

is a painter, photographer, & musician. He works "primarily in oil on linen and panel, making figurative and landscape paintings that he prefers to let speak for themselves - when they feel like it."

He's actually got his own live/work studio located along the bend. He is opening his spot up to visitors at this year's art crawl. Come and see what he's got up his sleeve this November!

3rd Street Clayworks is a space dedicated to the art of ceramics🏺

The owner, Jeff or CJ, is a self-taught craftsman of over 40 years who holds an MFA in ceramics. You can find him on the block most days & nights living out his life of creating and teaching others the fine craft of pottery. In addition to teaching classes to the public, he also teaches classes for TCC & TU.

You won't want to miss Jeff's space... or his stories! While you're there, plenty of pottery works will be on display by him & his students.

Riverbend history 📚 There is a natural low water crossing in the Arkansas River where Newblock Park meets the river. This naturally occurring crossing made this area very important to native american traders and people moving west before any bridges were built. When water rose above the level that people could cross on foot, ferries were utilized to take wagons, horses, and goods across the river.

In December 1915, The 11th St, or Cyrus Avery, bridge was constructed adjacent to this low water crossing. This bridge was the first bridge built for the purpose of carrying automobiles across the Arkansas River (hello Route 66! 👋)

Land acknowledgement: this district is located on native land - Mvskokvike, or Muscogee Nation.
