🎓👮🏼‍♂️Congratulations to our newest officer, Solstice Moreno, on graduating from the WACJTC Basic Law Enforcement Academy. Officer Moreno was selected as a Squad Leader for Class 944, and he completed the academy earning the Force and Fitness award.

Before answering the call to serve in law enforcement, Officer Moreno proudly served our country in the military. Today he continues a commitment to service by beginning a new chapter dedicated to protecting and serving our community. Officer Moreno’s dedication, discipline, and a commitment to something greater than himself are qualities that will serve him well throughout his training and his law enforcement career.

Please join us in congratulating him on the significant accomplishment and welcome him to the law enforcement profession. We’re proud to have him join the ranks and look forward to all he will accomplish for the Tumwater community for the years to come.🇺🇸🚔

🚨Update to our earlier post: Just a short while ago, SRO Stauffer arrested and booked a 14 year-old juvenile from King County at Thurston County Youth Services for Threats to Bomb or Injure Property. With the cooperation of a family member, the juvenile was safely taken into custody this evening at the Tumwater Police Department without incident. The arrest was the result of an investigation of threats made by the juvenile online referencing tonight’s Pioneer Bowl football game between THS and BHHS. Out of an abundance of caution for attendees, players and staff, the Tumwater School District elected to cancel the game since the juvenile had not yet been located. There are no additional arrests expected in this case. We appreciated the diligence and efforts of the involved investigators, as well as the collaboration with the TSD, to ensure the safety of all involved.

Earlier today, a School Resource Officer (SRO) with the Tumwater Police Department was made aware of a social media post referencing a threat made by a former Tumwater Middle School student. The threat was posted online by a juvenile who no longer attends school in the area.

An SRO and a Police Department detective are actively investigating this matter. At this time, the juvenile has not been located, and no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Tumwater Police Department will have a significantly increased police presence at tonight’s football game at Tumwater High School.

On Tuesday, 10/06, the Tumwater Police Department assisted the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force (TNT) in executing a search warrant in the 5700 block of Hixon Dr SE for narcotics and evidence of related crimes. Officers contacted seven people at the residence, and TNT took two into custody. One was arrested on one count of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver; the other was arrested on a TCSO civil contempt warrant from January 2025. Three other occupants had out-of-county warrants that the issuing agencies did not confirm. One occupant gave a Tumwater officer permission to search his vehicle, but the search found no narcotics or evidence of a crime. During the warrant’s ex*****on, TNT investigators seized suspected narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and a very small amount of cash.

Today, we celebrate an incredible accomplishment and the beginning of a new chapter in an already impressive career 👮🎓🎉 Officer Patrick Mazzulli graduated with Class 943 from the WACJTC Basic Law Enforcement Academy, and he certainly made his mark. Serving as the Class President, he demonstrated the leadership, professionalism, and commitment to his classmates that seemed to come naturally. Officer Mazzulli finished in the top three of his class in patrol skills, and he was honored with the Patrol Partner Award – a recognition that speaks volumes about his ability to work as part of a team, support those around him, and perform when it matters most.

Officer Mazzulli’s commitment to service began long before the academy. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, earned a Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Science, and most recently, worked as a strength and conditioning coach for soldiers stationed at JBLM.

The combination of military service, education, leadership, physical preparedness, and dedication to others has provided an incredible foundation for a career in law enforcement. Thursday, Officer Mazzulli will embark on the next phase of his training when he begins his post-academy training, which will lead into 14 weeks of FTO. Help us in congratulating Officer Mazzulli on his accomplishments in the academy, and wish him the best as he begins a long career in law enforcement. 🚓💙

The Tumwater Police Department, Fire Department, and City of Tumwater present the city’s first Trunk or Treat! Bring your family, friends, and Halloween spirit for a fun-filled community event.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Dress up and play games and eat treats!

The event runs 2 pm to 4 pm Saturday, Oct. 31, at Tumwater City Hall, 555 Israel Road SW.
