🎓 Tumwater U!

For two full days, Tumwater School District employees spent their time learning, collaborating, and preparing for an exciting new school year! From districtwide professional learning to pull-out sessions, our staff sharpened their skills, shared ideas, and built connections that will help make this a great year for every student.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped plan and organize Tumwater U, and to all of the staff members who shared their expertise by presenting, teaching, and leading sessions. We’re excited to put our learning into action as we get ready to welcome our students back. All Means All—and we’re ready for a great year! 💙💛

🎓✈️ The future is taking flight!

We love celebrating the many paths our graduates take after high school—and the determination it takes to reach their goals.

Congratulations to this 2026 Tumwater High School graduate - Donny Bush - who began flight school at just 16 years old while still in high school. After two years of hard work, training, studying and determination, he passed all of his tests in July and officially earned his private pilot certificate!

This is a perfect example of our Portrait of a Graduate attribute "Resilient Risk-Taker" we hope to see in every graduate. He isn’t stopping here—his next goal is to continue his training, earn his commercial pilot certification and, someday, hopefully fly for the airlines.

Congratulations on this incredible accomplishment, Donny! We can't wait to see where your determination takes you next. The sky is truly the limit! ✈️

🦅 Welcome to Kindergarten, Little Eagles! 🦅

This week, we welcomed our newest Eagles to Peter G. Schmidt Elementary for kindergarten assessments! 💙

These assessments are an important first step in getting to know each student so we can place every student in the classroom setting that will best support them as they begin their kindergarten journey.

It’s also a wonderful example of our District Promise in action: Every student known by name, strength, and need and prepared for the future they envision. We want to know who each child is, what they bring to the classroom, and what they need to thrive.

There were plenty of excited smiles, a few butterflies (from students and parents!), and lots of eager little learners ready to take this next big step. We loved getting to know them and seeing all they already bring with them!

Welcome to the Class of 2039, Eagles! We can’t wait to watch you learn, grow and soar. 🦅📚✨

💚💙 Tumwater, you stuffed that bus! 🚌📚

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out Saturday for our Stuff the Bus event and donated school supplies for Tumwater students and families who could use a little extra support getting ready for the school year.

Your generosity will help fill backpacks with notebooks, pencils, crayons, and so many of the supplies our students need to start the year ready to learn. Every donation makes a difference—and we are so grateful for a community that continues to show up for our kids. 💙💚

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, helped organize the event, and spread the word. We are so lucky to have a community that takes care of its students!

We are THRILLED to introduce you to our new District Nurse Coordinator, Lindsey Mathis. Lindsey was born and raised in Yelm, graduated from Yelm High School, and most recently worked there. We are excited for her to join our team! Fun fact about Lindsey - she lives on a beef farm; raised and showed cows all her life (4-H, FFA). Help us welcome Lindsey!
