Here's another local, historic photo shared with us by Blair Davis.🥰

McKown’s Garage parade float, with Hank Dunn, John Farr, “Major” (not sure who he is), and Blair's great Uncle Sam Farr, and unknown children possibly around 1928

Blair said she believes this was in downtown Tunkhannock.

Could any local history lovers help us identify the location and/or people in the photo?

We have photos of this from about 100 years ago. We will update those photos here once we can find them. It’s a bit challenging to keep up with hundreds of awesome photos from over the years! ❤️

We're not sure if we have any photos of Mr. Joseph Armstrong (yet) but read here that "he carried on farming...and looked after the chores around the premesis of H.F. Metcalf".

Over the years, many different people worked on the property of Mr. Henry Metcalf. We'd be so thrilled to find photos of the various people (farmers, maids, drivers, helpers, etc.) so we could have them on display someday.

If anyone knows of anyone who used to work here, please reach out/send us a private message!

What an interesting excerpt from a local newspaper in 1871:

"Harry Metcalf...broke his fore-arm...he had been playing with several of his associates on the empty coal cars...this should be a warning against playing about the railroad cars."

We like how they refer to his friends as "his associates"! 🤣 ❤️

Judge Charles Edwin Terry and Mrs. Emma (Benedict) Terry were very closely related to The Metcalf Family as Emma was Pamelia's sister.

The young ladies picture here were the children of Judge & Mrs. Terry so they were the nieces of Henry and Pamelia:
-Ruth E. Terry 1881-1907
"She was an invalid for many years before her death"-Findagrave.com

-Helen Day Terry 1883-1954
"Ms. Terry was a daughter of Judge Charles E. Terry and Emma Benedict Terry. She never married and apparently lived with her parents until their deaths. She never worked outside the home, but was president of the Library Board of the Tunkhannock library and was active in the Presbyterian church. She was survived by cousins."-Findagrave.com

You can learn more about their family here: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/231722665/emma_m-terry

*If you know of any closely related family members to this family, would you please reach out? We'd love to show photos to any remaining/related family members.*

More photos from the collection of Blair Davis! 🥰

These photos are of Henry Dunn, Howard Manuel and Blair's grandfather, John Farr, on the porch of 41 Wyoming Ave (where John Farr's family lived) around 1923.

FYI-Henry Dunn was a grandson of Henry and Pamelia Metcalf of The Metcalf Mansion!

Does anyone know where this rock is at? Is it here in Tunkhannock?

We just love photos from days gone by and would love to find this location! ❤️

Fun fact: We still haven't been able to identify everyone in these photos yet the one young lady (second in from the right) appears to be a daughter of Henry and Pamelia Metcalf!

Thank you so much to our friend, Blair Davis, for sharing photos from her family's photo collection! 🥰

We had a blast seeing photos of her family, members of the Metcalf family, other children in the neighborhood, and the historic homes in the background of many of these photos we'll be posting.

If you are local, or are very familiar with the local houses here in the Tunkhannock Historic District, please let us know the houses you can identify in these photos!

This first photo of is of Howard Manuel and Blair's grandfather, John Farr, on Pennsylvania Avenue around 1912!

(Behind the scenes info--we previously posted a photo with Metcalf relatives and Howard Manuel yet weren't sure of the connection. The more we learn, we realize that a lot of the children here in the neighborhood around The Metcalf Mansion had their photos taken together over the years!)
