South Feemster Lake Road to Close September 1 for Cross Drain Installation

TUPELO, Miss. — August 28, 2026 — The City of Tupelo Public Works Department will temporarily close a section of South Feemster Lake Road on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, to allow crews to install a cross drain.

The closure will affect South Feemster Lake Road between Wilson Street and Briar Ridge Road. This section of roadway will be closed to through traffic from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m. on September 1.

The temporary closure is necessary to provide a safe work area for Public Works crews and motorists while the cross drain is installed.

Motorists traveling in the area are encouraged to use an alternate route and allow additional time for their commute. Drivers should exercise caution near the work zone and follow all posted traffic-control signs and directions from City personnel.

The City of Tupelo appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this necessary infrastructure work is completed.

Tupelo Mayor Todd Jordan spoke Thursday at the August meeting of the Tupelo Luncheon Civitan Club at St. Luke United Methodist Church. During his presentation, Jordan provided an update on city departments and projects as well as ongoing initiatives throughout Tupelo.
