Village of Tupper Lake – Garbage & Recycling Update

After careful consideration, the Village will be discontinuing municipal garbage and recycling service effective May 31, 2026.

This was not an easy call. Our customer base has declined, and the cost to continue the service, rising tipping fees, and major equipment needs, has outpaced its sustainability. We have to make sure we’re focusing our time and resources on the Village’s most critical services.

What to expect through May:

Regular schedule remains the same
• Tuesday (Uptown)
• Wednesday (Downtown)
Final week: regular routes plus a last pickup on Friday (05/29/2026) for both trash and recycling

Stickers:

Available for purchase at the Village Office through the end of May.
After June 1, please contact us to arrange reimbursement for unused stickers

We know this impacts many of you, and we don’t take that lightly. We appreciate the support this service has had over the years, and this shift allows us to better prioritize the services that keep the Village running day to day.

⚠️ Scheduled Power Outage Notice (Weather Permitting)

The Village of Tupper Lake Electric Department will be conducting a scheduled power outage:

📅Wednesday, March 25, 2026
🕘Time: 9:00 AM
⏱ Estimated Duration: Approximately 2 hours

Purpose: Repair and testing of switchgear

Affected Areas:
State Route 30 south from the intersection of Lake Simond Road, including:
Hillside Drive, Little Simond Road, Country Club Road, Tamarac Drive, Robinwood Lane, Schugar Lane, Logan Lake, Hutchins Lane, Maddox Lane, Charland Road, Hemlock Ledge, and all submarine feed customers served from this area.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this important work to maintain system reliability.

After trying to freeze us solid for weeks, winter is suddenly feeling… generous? Suspicious.

The public skating rink is temporarily CLOSED due to warm temperatures, but let’s be honest… winter isn’t done with us yet. We fully expect it to return with attitude.

The Village of Tupper Lake is now the Adirondack hub of both the Adirondack Railroad and the Adirondack Rail Trail stretching from the Town of Tupper Lake to the outskirts of Lake Placid, New York.
The Tupper Lake Snowmobile Club and other groups along the trail corridor will be grooming all winter long for snowmobile traffic. Welcome to our community!

Garbage Pickup Update 🗑️

The Village of Tupper Lake office and departments will be closed on Tuesday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

Both Uptown and Downtown garbage routes will be picked up on Wednesday, November 12.
