Franklin County Civil Service has once again announced the exam for police officer. Last date to file is 4/6/2026. Tupper Lake Police Department is hiring and need candidates to take this exam. Tupper Lake PD offers a lucrative benefit package including health insurance, 20 year retirement, 12 Hour shifts, paid vacation/sick/personal leave, paid and accrued holidays, Deferred Compensation options and a starting salary of $60,675. **Reminder - Park Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Wawbeek Avenue and Mill Street today from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the annual business Trick or Treat on Park Street event.

Also, the Trunk or Treat event schedule this afternoon in the municipal park on Demars Blvd. has been moved to the HGA on Marion Street from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The NYS Homeland Security and Emergency Services is offering the "NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program" at 2 separate times on October 6th at Sunmount. See the flyers below and sign up if you are interested in taking the course and receiving a preparedness kit. Registration is required.

The Malone Police Department, with the assistance of the New York State Police Troop B and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, are still attempting to locate missing vulnerable adult John (Jack) D. Miller, age 90, Malone, NY.

John D. Miller was reported missing on September 18, 2025, to the Malone Police Department. Mr. Miller left his residence driving a 2016 Subaru Forester, bearing NY registration KNW7330.

We are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate Mr. Miller. If anyone sees or encounters the vehicle, please do not touch or enter the vehicle and contact law enforcement immediately.

17th Bike Rodeo is finished thanks to so many businesses organizations and volunteers there are literally 40-50 people to thank for volunteering 10 or so businesses, and groups as well as a 8 or so departments to help make this event happen! Of course thanks to the TLFD for letting us borrow their home for the day !! Lots of happy kids that are all jacked up on Sugar from Sundaes, Cotton Candy, and Snow Cones !!!
