Good Morning BH Community!
Here's what's happening this week, starting Monday 9/28:
Our food pantry is open this morning from 10-1, and I will be around to assist people with additional resources.
ALSO, today is National Family Day, and we are celebrating by inviting our local families to have dinner and do activities with us TONIGHT from 5-7 at the Brick House Annex next door at 22 3rd St! (We had hoped to have it at Unity Park, but the rain continues, so we're moving it inside) Please see attached flyer for details; this is for families with kids of all ages!
Tomorrow morning from 9:00-10:30, Community Legal Aid will return for the second session of a 3-part series on housing discrimination this fall; this one will focus on discrimination against people who belong to the LGBTQ+ community and/or those who are being discriminated against because of their race and/or country of origin. If this speaks to you, please attend; it will be at our Annex at 22 3rd St. The next one is coming up on Tuesday 10/20 from 9-10:30, and will focus on discrimination against those who have experience sexual assault and/or domestic violence.
Also tomorrow from 5-6 is our Spanish/English gathering next door at 22, and we will provide snacks. This is a drop-in program for anyone interested in learning either English or Spanish while getting to know other community members. Families with kids are also welcome!
Thursday from 9-10 is our weekly Coffee Hour and 10-1 is Food pantry. I will be out, so Our amazing AmeriCorps Member, Tea, will cover Coffee Hour for me. During Food Pantry, if you need anything please contact me for an appointment, or contact Valerie at Heartwing's housing & basic needs program at 413-824-5386.

*A reminder that the Brick House is helping to collect MA Community Health Equity Surveys (CHES). This confidential survey, designed and run by the Massachusetts Department of Health every 3 years, asks about a broad range of topics that affect health.
The data collected helps the state understand and take action to address challenges that people in our communities are facing with housing, transportation, employment, healthcare, mental health and other health-related equity and access issues and disparities. Your answers will be kept strictly anonymous. Please fill it out; I did it and it takes maybe 10 minutes and it has the potential to have a positive impact on our community; here's the link: https://www.mass.gov/community-health-equity-survey
ALSO, I mentioned above that I will be out on Thursday; actually I will be out from Thursday through next Wednesday 10/7. Tea will cover our Spanish/English session on Tuesday.

Thursday 10/8 from 1-2, I will be at the Millers Falls Library branch to assist folks with resources.
Saturday 10/10, we're collaborating with the Montague Libraries to have a Halloween Costume Swap from 3-5!
*Monday 10/12 is Indigenous Peoples' Day, so the Brick House will be closed.
Our local Community Health Center is sending their Health Insurance Navigator to the Brick House (24 3rd St) on Monday 10/19 from 9-12 to assist people with MassHealth or the Health Connector - anything from signing up to resolving issues.
ALSO 10/19 from 12-1, parents and other adults are invited to attend our BOO Basket workshop! If you don't know what a Boo Basket is, it's a Halloween-inspired basket, and this workshop will be led by Jenna Weld.
The Healing Trauma 8-week program is returning as we continue our partnership with the Salasin Project; this time it will be held at their location in Greenfield. It starts 10/22 and registration is required; please see attached flyer!
We're bringing back the Breaktime for Parents & Guardians program! It will take place on the last Monday of each month from 5:30-7 starting on October 26th!
And Friday 10/30 from 3:30-5, please stop by 22 3rd St. with your kids for some Halloween fun!!
