It is with profound sadness that Chief Grudzinski announces the passing of Life Member Bonnie Fowler. Bonnie joined Washington Township Ambulance and Rescue Association as a volunteer EMT in the 1970s, dedicating countless years of service to our community as a volunteer EMT. In 1989, Bonnie was deservedly recognized as a Life Member for her unwavering commitment and dedication to the organization and the residents of Washington Township. Bonnie’s late husband, Rich Fowler, who passed away in 2019, also dedicated much of his life to Washington Township Ambulance. Rich joined the organization in 1980, became a Life Member in 1990, and served for many years as a volunteer before later transitioning into an administrative role where he continued supporting the department and its mission.
While Washington Township Ambulance and Rescue Association transitioned away from volunteer operations several decades ago and now operates entirely with career staff, the Fowler name continued to be recognized within our organization each and every day. Their legacy never faded, and their impact on this organization continues to live on through the culture, traditions, and dedication they helped build. In 2000, Washington Township Ambulance dedicated our annual EMT of the Year Award to the Fowler family. Each year, our staff anonymously vote for the EMT they believe has gone above and beyond in service to our community, a lasting tribute to the values, compassion, and commitment that Bonnie and Rich embodied throughout their years of service.
This is a tremendous loss to our organization, our members, and the Washington Township community. Bonnie’s legacy of volunteerism, kindness, and dedication will never be forgotten. Please keep the Fowler family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
