Each of these services were rich in EMS history and

traditions. Founded in 1967, Turtle Creek Rescue #2 was one of the first EMS services in the country! From our humble beginnings, EAPS has grown to become one of the top emergency medical services in Allegheny county. Located in the eastern suburbs of Allegheny county, EAPS provides emergency medical care to the residents of East McKeesport, Edgewood, Swissvale, Turtle Creek, Wall, Wilkinsburg, and Wilmerding. Additionally, we offer non-emergency transportation to the residents of these communities as well as to several healthcare facilities located nearby. EAPS is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by highly trained EMT's and paramedics. Our fleet includes 8 advanced life support ambulances and one wheelchair van to serve our residents. EAPS is a non-profit organization that relies on monies from third party billing, subscriptions, donations and fund raising.

It is not every day that EMS crews help bring a new life into the world.

On May 11, 2026, Eastern Area Prehospital Services assisted Priority One EMS and Allegheny Health Network - Prehospital Care Services Medic 953 with the field delivery of a baby girl in the Borough of Braddock at 22:20.

We would like to recognize Paramedic Gina B and EMT Samantha K from EAPS for their outstanding work during this memorable call.

On February 20, 2026, the Allegheny County Emergency Services dispatched East McKeesport Police Department, United Volunteer Fire/Rescue, and Eastern Area Prehospital Services for a report of a child not breathing.

The highly trained Allegheny County 911 telecommunicators simultaneously dispatched first responders while providing pre-arrival instructions to the child’s mother, enabling her to begin life-saving measures.

Officers from the East McKeesport and North Versailles Police Departments were the first to arrive and immediately initiated CPR. They continued care until the arrival of QRS and EMS units, ultimately transferring care to responders from United Volunteer Fire/Rescue, Eastern Area Prehospital Services, and UPMC Prehospital Care Paramedic Response.

Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of all involved, the child has made a full recovery.

This evening, all public safety personnel involved were recognized at the East McKeesport Borough Council meeting by Allegheny County Councilwoman Michelle Naccarati-Chapkis, Sen. Nick Pisciottano, Rep. Brandon Markosek, and UPMC Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association for their outstanding efforts.
