TURTLE LAKE POLICE DEPARTMENT LAUNCHES FUNDRAISING EFFORTS FOR NEXT K-9 PARTNER
The Turtle Lake Police Department has been approved by the Village Board to begin fundraising to purchase and train a new narcotics-detection K-9 for the Village of Turtle Lake.
Narcotics detection K-9s are an essential tool in modern law enforcement. They assist officers in locating illegal drugs, supporting criminal investigations, enhancing officer safety, and serving as a strong deterrent to drug-related activity within the community.
Officer Frank Stavely has been selected as the department’s next K-9 handler. Officer Stavely has demonstrated a strong commitment to identifying and removing illegal drugs and drug-impaired
drivers from the Village of Turtle Lake and surrounding areas. He will undergo specialized training to ensure the success of this program.
In addition to narcotics detection, this K-9 will be trained in tracking lost or endangered individuals, providing an added layer of public safety for our community. With the department’s current K-9 expected to retire in the near future, acquiring and training a new K-9 at this time will allow for a seamless transition and continued service without interruption.
The initial cost of establishing this program is estimated at approximately $15,000. There are also ongoing expenses associated with maintaining a K-9 program, including veterinary care, food,
equipment, and training.
The Turtle Lake Police Department respectfully requests support from community members and local businesses to help cover these costs. Any contribution, regardless of amount, is greatly
appreciated.
Donations may be made by cash or check at, or mailed to, the Turtle Lake Village Hall, located at 114 E. Martin Avenue, Turtle Lake, WI, 54889. Checks should be made payable to the Village of Turtle Lake, with “TLPD K9 Unit 6608” included in the memo line. Donations may also be made directly at Dairy State Bank in Turtle Lake. Receipts are available upon request.
