On September 14, 2026, the Englewood Hulls Volunteer Fire Department voted in a new executive leadership team to take the helm and strengthen community support. The newly elected team includes Joe Manns as Chief, alongside Eric McDanal and Will Cain serving as Assistant Chiefs.

With a focus on protecting what matters most: our families, our friends, and our homes, the new Chiefs are bringing decades of firsthand experience and a revitalization to the department.

Chief Joe Manns steps into his new role having served as a first responder since 2012. For Chief Manns, leading the department is a deeply personal mission. “It’s my community and I care about it. It’s my way to give back to the place that molded me into who I am today,” Manns stated. Under his leadership, the department will focus on providing the community with top-tier fire and EMS services driven by a “servant's heart.” Chief Manns aims to establish the department as a resource for community members to give back and be a training ground to help the next generation of first responders learn and grow.

Assistant Chief Eric McDanal, who has served for five years, is stepping up to help lead the department in the very place he was raised. Driven by a desire to help his hometown, McDanal’s primary goal in his new leadership position is to, “Improve the quality of service in both fire incidents and medical incidents.”

Assistant Chief Will Cain brings a decade of service experience to the leadership team. When asked why he chose to dedicate his time to Englewood Hulls, Cain noted the importance of stepping up for the agency that protects his own home and neighbors. As Assistant Chief, his core objective is to, “Grow us to better serve and protect our community.”

Together, Chief Manns, Assistant Chief McDanal, and Assistant Chief Cain are committed to serving Englewood Hulls so that it continues to be a safe and protected community.

Update: Roadway is cleared

Engelwood Hulls is on scene of a vehicle accident at the intersection of Old Greensboro and Inverness Parkway. Roadway is blocked at this time.

We had an amazing time at the Hillcrest High School homecoming parade.

We're excited to share that our department will be at every Hillcrest home football game this season with the fire truck.

Be sure to come out, support our local schools, and say hi!

UPDATE: Landing Zone training is being rescheduled. We will still have training for pump operations starting at 6pm.

This Thursday, we're training on landing zone operations, weather permitting. If conditions change, we'll post an update here letting you know if it's canceled.

Today's the day! Come on out starting at 1:00 PM.

This event is RAIN OR SHINE! In the event of bad weather we will be inside the fire house.

Come watch Alabama take on Kentucky, grab some food, bring the kids for fun activities, and stick around for the raffle drawing.

Every dollar raised today goes straight toward funding new turnout gear for our volunteers, the neighbors who show up when you need help most. Our goal is 2 full sets by the end of today, and we know this community can make it happen.
