Today, our crews have responded to multiple incidents involving vehicles trapped in floodwaters.

If you encounter water covering a roadway, TURN AROUND β€” DON’T DROWN.

Never attempt to drive through flooded roads. The depth of the water may be impossible to judge, the roadway beneath may be washed away, and even a small amount of moving water can carry a vehicle off the road.

Under no circumstances should you drive around barricades or road closure signs. These closures are in place for your safety. Driving around them is not only extremely dangerous, but it is also illegal.

Please avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve. If you must be on the road, slow down, stay alert, and never take chances with floodwaters.

Your destination is not worth your life.

β˜€οΈπŸš— SUMMER ROAD TRAVEL SAFETY TIPS πŸš—β˜€οΈ

Summer means vacations, road trips, and more vehicles on the road. Before you hit the highway, take a few minutes to prepare for a safe journey.

βœ… Plan Your Route – Check traffic, weather, and construction delays before leaving.

βœ… Inspect Your Vehicle – Check tires, fluids, brakes, lights, and windshield wipers.

βœ… Buckle Up – Every passenger, every trip.

βœ… Avoid Distracted Driving – Put the phone away and focus on the road.

βœ… Get Plenty of Rest – Drowsy driving can be just as dangerous as impaired driving.

βœ… Take Breaks Often – Stop every 2 hours or 100 miles to stretch and stay alert.

βœ… Stay Hydrated – Keep water available, especially during extreme heat.

βœ… Watch for Roadside Responders – Slow Down and Move Over for emergency vehicles, tow trucks, utility crews, and highway workers.

βœ… Keep an Emergency Kit – Include water, snacks, first aid supplies, flashlight, phone charger, and jumper cables.

βœ… Never Leave Children or Pets in a Vehicle – Even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become deadly very quickly.

🌞 A little preparation can make a big difference. Travel safely, arrive safely, and enjoy your summer adventures!
