The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Northern Coles County in east central Illinois...
Douglas County in east central Illinois...
Edgar County in east central Illinois...
* Until 1000 AM CDT.
* At 646 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of
rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Paris, Tuscola, Arcola, Villa Grove, Arthur, Chrisman, Atwood,
Oakland, Newman, Kansas, Camargo, Humboldt, Hume, Brocton,
Vermilion, Rardin, Edgar County Airport, Cooks Mill, Edgar and
Bourbon.
This includes Interstate 57 between mile markers 194 and 217.
AFFECTS: Coles, IL; Douglas, IL; Edgar, IL
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
