I don’t normally post on here however I’m tired of hearing that drugs are a victimless crime.

Their impact extends far beyond the person using them, harming families, children, and entire communities.

Each year, tens of thousands of Americans die from drug overdoses, many involving fentanyl or other dangerous substances. Drug impaired driving kills thousands more and puts innocent motorists, passengers, and pedestrians at risk. Addiction also contributes to theft, burglary, and other crimes committed to support drug use, creating additional victims.

Children often suffer the greatest through abuse, neglect, and placement into foster care due to parental substance abuse.

Whether through overdose deaths, impaired driving, crime, or the horrible effects on families, the evidence is clear. Illegal drugs create real victims and impose significant social, economic, and public safety costs.

While people may disagree on how drug crimes should be addressed, I don’t think they can be described as “victimless.”
