🚨 September is National Preparedness Month! 🚨

Emergencies and disasters can happen when we least expect them. Taking a little time now to prepare can make a big difference when something goes wrong.

This month, take a few simple steps to help keep yourself and your family prepared:

🧰 Build an emergency kit with water, food, medications, flashlights, batteries, first-aid supplies, and other essentials.

📋 Make a plan. Know where you will go, how you will communicate, and where you will meet if your family becomes separated.

📱 Stay informed. Know how you'll receive emergency alerts and warnings in your area.

💊 Don't forget your medications and important health information. Keep a current list of medications, allergies, medical conditions, and emergency contacts somewhere easy to access.

🐶 Plan for your pets, too! Include food, water, medications, identification, and supplies they may need.

You don't have to prepare everything at once. Start with one step today and build from there.

💙 Prepare now. Protect your family. Be ready when it matters most.

🐶 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Today is a great day to celebrate our four-legged family members and a good reminder that keeping your pets healthy helps keep our communities healthy, too!

💉 Vaccinating your pets is an important part of public health. Routine vaccinations help protect dogs (and cats) from serious, preventable diseases and can also help reduce the risk of diseases that can spread from animals to people, including rabies.

Here are a few ways to help keep your pup—and your community—healthy:
🐾 Keep vaccinations up to date
🐾 Schedule regular veterinary checkups
🐾 Keep your dog’s rabies vaccination current as required by law
🐾 Make sure your pet is properly identified and licensed, when required
🐾 Contact your veterinarian if your pet has been exposed to a potentially rabid animal

A healthy pet is a happy pet—and protecting your pet is part of protecting your family and community! ❤️

Celebrate National Dog Day by giving your pup some extra love—and making sure their vaccinations are up to date! 🐕💉

🚌📚 Back-to-School Safety: Slow Down & Stay Alert!

School is back in session this week for most of our schools, which means more children walking, biking, and riding the bus—and more school buses and families on the road.

🚗 For Drivers:
• Slow down in school zones and watch for crossing children.
• Stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended.
• Never pass a stopped school bus.
• Watch carefully for children near bus stops, sidewalks, and crosswalks.
• Put the phone down and keep your eyes on the road.

🚌 For Students Riding the Bus:
• Stay at least 10 feet away from the bus while waiting.
• Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching.
• Stay seated and keep the aisles clear while riding.
• Keep your head, hands, and arms inside the bus.
• When crossing in front of the bus, make sure you can see the driver and look both ways before crossing.

🏫 Let's work together to make getting to and from school safe for everyone!

Slow down. Stay alert. Share the road. Help our kids get to school safely. 💛
