We had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Murphy’s Career Prep class from Deshler High School to the fire department!

Students got an inside look at what we do every day, learned about career opportunities in the fire service, and explored our equipment up close. It’s always a great experience connecting with the next generation and sharing what it means to serve our community.

Thanks for visiting! We hope to see some future firefighters in this group!

We had such a wonderful time today visiting the Helen Keller Public Library!

It was truly a privilege to spend time reading to the Little Learners, sharing lots of smiles, and giving them a special tour of our truck. Their excitement and curiosity made the experience even more memorable!

Just before 11:00 PM last night, our crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire. From the moment of dispatch to arrival on scene, units made it in just three minutes, where they encountered moderate smoke conditions coming from the roof.

We want to recognize and commend the responding crew for their hustle and professionalism. Attic fires can be especially challenging, they often require time to locate the seat of the fire and open up concealed spaces, giving the fire an opportunity to spread quickly.

Thanks to the crew’s quick actions and strong coordination, they were able to rapidly locate and extinguish the fire, preventing further extension and limiting damage to the homeowner’s property.

We would also like to praise the Tuscumbia Police Department for their continued commitment to public safety. Their response alongside our crews, equipped with a drone featuring thermal imaging capabilities, has proven instrumental. This technology allows for rapid aerial identification of fire locations and provides ongoing monitoring of conditions, further enhancing the effectiveness and safety of our operations.

Outstanding work and dedication by all involved in protecting our community.

Shortly before 5:00 PM today, our department was dispatched to a reported structure fire with one confirmed elderly occupant still in an upstairs bedroom.

Upon arrival, crews found the second occupant assisting the elderly resident out of the home and onto the porch. Despite the heat and smoke conditions inside, she remained calm and took action to help ensure the occupant’s safety. We would like to commend her bravery and quick thinking during a very stressful situation.

We are also incredibly proud of the quick response and strong work put in by the duty crew today. Their professionalism and teamwork helped bring the situation under control quickly and safely.

Great work by everyone involved.

Community Visit with Our Seniors

Today, Fire Marshal Jaco had the opportunity to visit the Senior Citizens Center to spend time with some of the wonderful members of our community. During the visit, he shared important fire safety tips, answered questions, and talked about ways seniors can stay safe at home.

One of the highlights of the visit was giving everyone a chance to see our brand new fire engine up close. It was a great opportunity to explain how the new apparatus helps us better serve and protect our community.

We always enjoy opportunities like this to connect with our residents and help promote fire safety for everyone. Thank you to the Senior Citizens Center for welcoming us!

IMPASSABLE TRAVEL ADVISORY IN EFFECT

Road conditions remain impassable at this time. Despite this, we are still seeing a significant number of vehicles and ATV/UTVs on the roadways.

For your safety and the safety of first responders, we strongly recommend suspending all travel.

Conditions will likely worsen as more rain approaches and as temperatures drop below freezing once again tomorrow possibly creating heavy icing conditions.

Please stay off the roads, remain where you are if safe to do so, and continue to monitor official updates. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe.

-Roads may quickly become highly hazardous
-Forecasts are calling for ¼”–½” of ice, with localized areas up to 1”
-Travel conditions could deteriorate rapidly

⚠️ Safety First:
We strongly encourage everyone to remain at home and stay off the roads once precipitation begins.
