At 937 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Emerald Mountain, or 9 miles southeast of Wetumpka, moving southeast
at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Eastern Montgomery, Tallassee, Milstead, Shorter, Emerald Mountain,
Mount Meigs, Tysonville, Victoryland, Waugh, Blue Ridge, Brassell,
and Ware.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

* WHAT...For the Heat Advisory this afternoon, heat index values up
to 109. For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions
with heat index values up to 113 expected.

* WHERE...All of Central Alabama.

* WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, until 9 PM CDT this evening. For the
Extreme Heat Warning, from 9 PM this evening to 9 PM CDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stoke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and
drink plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

🚧 BRIDGE CLOSURE NOTICE - TUSKEGEE STREET (AL HWY 81) 🚧

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has notified the Town of Notasulga that the Tuskegee Street Bridge (AL Hwy 81) will be closed for construction work during the daytime on:

📅 August 17th-20th
📅 August 24th-27th

⚠️ While closures are currently planned for daytime hours only, some nighttime closures may be necessary to complete the project.

🚗 Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and use caution when traveling in the area during the closure periods.

🚛 TRUCK TRAFFIC NOTICE Please remember that several streets within the Town of Notasulga are posted with "No Thru Truck Traffic" signs. Commercial vehicles and multi-axle trucks should use AL HWY 199 as the designated detour around the bridge closure.

SPEED LIMIT REMINDER The posted speed limit on Railroad Avenue is 25 MPH. Please slow down and help keep our residents and neighborhoods safe.

Tuskegee National Forest, or 7 miles east of Tuskegee, moving
southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Tuskegee, Hurtsboro, Tuskegee National Forest, Uchee, Society Hill,
Lake Tuskegee, Creek Stand, Warriorstand, I 85 Rest Area, and Marvyn.

At 123 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Franklin, or near Tuskegee, moving southeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Tuskegee, Franklin, Tuskegee National Forest, Lake Tuskegee, I 85
Rest Area, Uphapee Creek, and Moton Field Municipal Airport.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

🚜🧹 All Macon County Cleanup Initiative 🧹🚜

The Macon County Commission Chairman and Commissioners want to hear from residents about city and county roads throughout Macon County that need attention. If you know of areas that need grass cutting, mowing, litter removal, or general cleanup, please list the road names in the comments below.

🙋🏾‍♀️🙋🏾‍♂️ Want to help? Residents, businesses, churches, civic groups, and community organizations are encouraged to participate by cleaning up around their homes, neighborhoods, businesses, or other public areas.

If you’re interested in volunteering with the countywide cleanup effort on August 15, 2026, please send me a direct message or contact Chairman Maxwell, your District County Commissioner, City Councilman or Mayor Lee. Information regarding cleanup locations, safety procedures, volunteer waivers, and event details will be announced soon.
