Congratulations, Lieutenant Kulcsar!

Twinsburg Fire is proud to congratulate Derrick Kulcsar on his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant.

Earlier this morning, Mayor Sam Scaffide administered the oath of office, officially promoting Firefighter Kulcsar to Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Kulcsar began his fire service career in October 2005 and has served with Chippewa, Clinton, New Franklin and Coventry Fire Departments. He joined Twinsburg Fire as a part-time firefighter in 2013 and became a full-time member in 2015. Lieutenant Kulcsar is also a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Throughout his career, Derrick has demonstrated dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to serving others. We are extremely proud of his many accomplishments and the milestones he has achieved throughout his career, all of which have led him to this well-deserved promotion.

Please join us in congratulating Lieutenant Derrick Kulcsar and wishing him continued success in his new role.

Twinsburg Fire would also like to thank Mayor Sam Scaffide and the City of Twinsburg for their continued confidence in our members and for supporting the growth and development of leadership within the Twinsburg Fire Department.

Congratulations, Captain Christopher Sorm!

Twinsburg Fire is honored to introduce the newest member of our department to be promoted to the rank of Captain.

Early this morning, Mayor Sam Scaffide administered the Oath of Office to Lieutenant Chris Sorm, officially promoting him to Captain.

Captain Sorm began his career with the Twinsburg Fire Department as a part-time firefighter in December 1995 and became a full-time member on January 3, 2003. In August 2020, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

With nearly 30 years of dedicated service to the Twinsburg community, Captain Sorm’s experience, leadership, and commitment have more than prepared him for this new role. His promotion fills the position recently vacated following the promotion of Chief Wilson.

We are proud of Captain Sorm and all that he has accomplished throughout his career. We are confident that his leadership and experience will continue to serve the department and our community well.

Thank you to Mayor Scaffide and the City of Twinsburg for your confidence in Captain Sorm and for supporting the continued growth and leadership of the Twinsburg Fire Department.

Congratulations, Captain Christopher Sorm! We look forward to all that you will accomplish in this new role.

Today we honor and remember Capt. Jeffery Bender.

Twenty years ago today, he answered his final alarm, leaving behind a legacy that continues to be felt throughout our department. Capt. Bender was more than a firefighter and leader—he was a brother whose legendary stories, sense of humor, and ability to bring laughter into any room are remembered by all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

His watch may have ended, but his legacy lives on in the traditions, camaraderie, and dedication of those who continue to serve.
Gone, but never forgotten.

The Twinsburg Fire Department is grateful for the incredible support shown by our community during a difficult time. Thank you to Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Aurora and Ken Ganley Chevy Of Aurora for the "Fill the Truck" donation drive supporting families impacted by the Woodlands neighborhood house explosion.

And thank you to the generosity of our community, essential supplies and donations were collected to help families as they begin the rebuilding process.

This event can greatly impact all citizens. Outdoor activities should be undertaken with caution.

- reducing vehicle use (consider carpooling or using public transportation)
- avoid ALL open burning
- refuel vehicles after sunset
- give fuel burning lawn care equipment the day off
