Caribou River Trail Rescue

On May 31, 2026 at 1301 hours (1:01 pm), Lake County Dispatch received a call of an 88-year-old male who had fallen approximately 30 feet down towards the river off the Caribou River Trail.

Lake County Rescue members used ropes to rescue the male who had been hanging onto a tree over the river. The male had no other injuries besides cuts and scrapes.

Agencies assisting the Lake County Sheriff’s Office during this incident were Lake County Search and Rescue, Lake County Ambulance, and a Minnesota State Park Ranger.

No additional information is available at this time.

Palisade Head Recovery

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 1655 hours (4:55 pm), the Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a Tettegouche State Park Ranger reporting that they had located a body on the rocks at the bottom of the cliff at Palisade Head.

The body was recovered by the Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and Rescue Squad personnel. The victim has been identified as Seth Pipho, of Minneapolis.

This case is still under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
