Woodland Dunes Nature Center and Preserve Woodland Dunes is a 1,500 acre nature preserve based on globally significant habitat, including an environmental education center located in Two Rivers, WI.

Woodland Dunes offers beautiful nature trails, educational exhibits, and family programs while protecting our globally significant habitat through effective land management practices. We offer hiking trails, educational exhibits, and hands-on learning for both children and adults. Our beautiful trails are open from sunrise to sunset each day. Come and share the wild, free and unique wonders of our Dunes.

Families, Join us for November's Wild Families Program: Fall Family Hike

Saturday, November 7th from 10 - 11 AM

Let’s go on a hike on Blazing Star Trail! Bring a backpack with an extra layer, water bottle and enjoy a family-friendly hike. We will use binoculars and explore this beautiful part of the preserve. Wear tennis shoes/hiking shoes and be prepared for slightly uneven ground. Hike is 0.75 miles. Program for ages 6-12 years

Members: $3/child
Non-members: $4/child

Our October Staff’s Favorite Series Is… Staff’s Favorite Owl Species 🦉

Kennedy (Naturalist): Northern Saw-whet Owl

“Definitely biased, I have gotten to work closely with this species here at the Dunes and love their fierce and inquisitive nature. They are also SO cute!”

🦉Northern Saw-whet Owls are some of the smallest owls in the US, with a weight of around 2 - 5 ounces and wingspan of 16 - 18 inches
🦉Woodland Dunes is one of the few organizations in Wisconsin that band Saw-whets during their migration - we have been banding them every year since the 1970’s. Last year we banded 39 owls.

Friday's Adult Learning Series program kicked off with learning about the relationship between dragon mythology & lycopod fossils. 🐉

Saturday, Dr. Poli led a guided hike to discover the amazing world of bryophytes along one of our trails. 🔍
