-TWO RIVERS AND MISHICOT EXPLORE REGIONAL OPTIONS FOR A STRONGER, MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE -
The City of Two Rivers and the Mishicot Area Ambulance Service Board are making progress on a Regional EMS Feasibility Study exploring whether greater collaboration could create a stronger, more sustainable emergency medical service system for our region.
On August 26, 2026, the Mishicot Ambulance Board voted unanimously to move forward with collaborating with the City of Two Rivers for emergency medical services.
Mishicot Ambulance currently serves the Town of Gibson, Town of Mishicot, Town of Two Creeks, Village of Mishicot, Town of Kossuth, and the Town of Two Rivers.
A joint working group (including the Mishicot Ambulance Board, City of Two Rivers leadership, local stakeholders, and the State of Wisconsin Rural EMS Outreach Program Manager) is moving forward with a model, collaborating together, in which the City of Two Rivers would provide paramedic-level ambulance service regionwide, supported by an enhanced regional first responder presence.
A regional system would offer greater staffing depth, more consistent paramedic-level coverage, shared resources, and stronger operational resiliency. Staffing, finances, governance, equipment, and long-term financial sustainability will continue to be closely evaluated while moving forward.
Any regional EMS model must be financially sustainable on its own. Grants and partnerships may help with implementation, but we will not build a system that depends on temporary funding to survive.
This is important long-term planning for our community and our neighbors, and we are excited about the opportunity to move forward with a stronger, more sustainable emergency medical service system for the future.
