Y'all check this out. Yep that's me in Myrtle Beach where I had the opportunity to represent the collaboration of The City of Tybee Island and The Savannah Ambucs at Ambucs Nationals. I took one of our beach wheelchairs and one of our new beach walkers to display infront of hundreds of Ambucs members. I had the opportunity to meet this inspiring young lady named Aspen Sage Accessibility with Aspen Sage. Aspen was one of our key note speakers for the conference and she shared very personal and inspiring stories from her life and the incredible series of events that led her to where she is today. I imagine most people faced with the challenges she has had to endure and continues to endure would not be doing what she is doing. She is candid about her story and has devoted her life to showing what can be accomplished and how communities like Tybee Island can support people who have challenges with mobility and accessibilty by doing more than the minimum. As you can see or beach wheelchair and beach walker are perfectly suited for soft sand beaches and I had no problem pushing Aspen and her service dog JoJo together across the beach. Thank you Aspen for trusting me and our chair to get you to a place you could may some special memories.

Hey Everyone!
I am so excited that our mayor has encouraged us to submit Beach'Able Tybee for a Visionary City Award through The Georgia Municipal Association. The award recognizes cities that drive positive community change through effective civic engagement and collaboration and highlights initiatives that foster strong working relationships and help make communities places where people truly love to live and work. Thank you Tybee Island Mayor Brian West for believing in our program and encouraging us to submit! I feel so blessed to have been able to build this from a few rough pieces of equipment into a city wide beach accessability program that is unlike anything on the east coast!! I truly have work in the coolest place on earth! we will keep you informed.

I am living proof that trauma doesn't have to turn you into an evil person.

5 years ago, my whole world was flipped upside down, and there were many moments when I didn't want to be here anymore. Honestly, I still have days when I don't want to be here. I still struggle. I still have moments where the weight of everything I've been through feels like too much and the weight of what I still experience seems like too much to handle...But I've also learned that what happened to me doesn't get to decide who I become. Trauma can change you without making you cruel. Pain can break your heart without taking away your ability to love. & even on the days when I don't feel strong, I have to choose to keep going. I choose kindness. I choose compassion. I choose to believe that there is still a life worth living, even when I can't always see it. ❤️‍🩹
